Instead of simply completing writing assignments, they are now able to turn their ideas into real, finished books using the materials you helped provide. The resources have supported our writing lessons throughout the day, from drafting and revising to creating final copies my students are proud to share.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited and motivated when they first saw the materials, and that excitement has carried over into their writing. They take greater care with their work, are more willing to stick with a piece from start to finish, and are eager to read their books aloud to classmates. Our next steps will be to continue building writing stamina, adding more detail to our stories, and using these materials for future writing projects across the curriculum. Instead of trying to learn while their stomachs were rumbling, they now have access to snacks that help them refuel and refocus. We use the snacks during our small-group reading and math blocks, as well as in the afternoon when energy is low and attention tends to slip. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who usually struggles to stay on task quietly grab a snack, take a deep breath, and then proudly finish his work for the very first time without giving up.\r\n\r\nThe first day the snack bins appeared in our classroom, my students' eyes lit up. I heard little voices whispering, \"Are those for us?\" and \"We get this every day?\" For many of them, simply knowing that there will be something to eat if they're hungry has made our classroom feel even safer and more welcoming. It has also given me a discreet way to support students who may not always come to school with enough food, without drawing attention to them or making them feel different from their classmates.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our next steps as learners are all about stamina—stamina for reading longer books, solving multi-step math problems, and staying engaged all the way to the end of the school day. The nutritious snacks you provided are a small thing that make a big difference: fewer tears, fewer \"I can't do this,\" and more \"Can I try another one?\" moments. From my first graders and from me, thank you for investing in their minds, their health, and their daily comfort. With soft bean bags, a warm rug, and a variety of fidget toys, it provides students with a safe and calming space to step away from their work when they start to feel overwhelmed or frustrated. This area has truly transformed the tone of the classroom—students know it's a judgment-free zone where they can take a few minutes to regulate their emotions and return to learning with a clearer mindset. The cozy corner helps promote self-regulation, emotional awareness, and independence, while also creating a sense of comfort and belonging for every student.\r\n\r\nStudents use calming cards to signal when they need a break, allowing them to visit the cozy corner for about ten minutes to relax and reset. During this time, they can use fidgets to channel their energy, sit quietly on the bean bags, or even write out their emotions to process how they're feeling. This structured yet flexible system empowers students to take ownership of their emotional well-being and supports a positive classroom culture. I've noticed that after taking time in the cozy corner, students often return to their desks more focused, calm, and ready to engage, making it an invaluable tool for both their emotional and academic growth.","fullyFundedDate":1746460860892,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-corner-for-calm-minds/9295038/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Corner for Calm Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10008435_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745935884587","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10008435"},{"teacherId":127498,"projectId":9331064,"letterContent":"On behalf of my first grade bilingual classroom, I want to extend my deepest thanks for your generous donation of headphones.
