Because of you, our classroom now has a powerful new tool: an iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and the essential accessories that make it all work.\r\nTo you, this might look like a piece of technology. To my students, it is a voice, a pencil, and a bridge to independence.\r\nImmediate Impact in the Classroom\r\nSince introducing the iPad, the energy during writing time has shifted. Students who previously shut down when asked to pick up a traditional pencil are now eagerly using voice-to-text to share their ideas or practicing their letter formations with the Apple Pencil. The frustration that used to create barriers is being replaced by the \"aha!\" moments we all strive for.\r\nSuccess in Therapy and Beyond\r\nIn our occupational therapy sessions, the impact is already visible:\r\n• Fine Motor Practice: Students are motivated to work on their grip and precision using the Apple Pencil.\r\n• Visual-Motor Skills: Sequencing games are helping students process information more effectively.\r\n• Self-Regulation: Having a dedicated, high-quality device for calming apps has helped students manage overstimulation.\r\nA Note on Our Photos\r\nBecause my students' privacy and safety are my absolute priority, the photos I've shared focus on their hands at work or the device in action rather than their faces. While you may not see their smiles in these pictures, please know they are there! Seeing them participate alongside their peers—typing their notes or taking photos of anchor charts to reference later—has given them a visible boost in confidence.\r\nThank you for investing in these bright, resilient learners. You haven't just provided a device; you've provided a pathway to success that will benefit these students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1757194829895,"projectUrl":"project/leveling-the-playing-field-with-assistiv/9631763/","projectTitle":"Leveling the Playing Field with Assistive Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Samantha","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9236481_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731773038276","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9236481"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59590","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":331,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":59590,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Summit Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Summit Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/woodland-park-sch-dist-re-2/summit-elementary-school/59590"}
