This lets me read with a specific group of students that might need more support or would otherwise get lost with the complexity of the text. \r\n\r\nThe book is engaging and funny, but also speaks towards important issues that multicultural students encounter when living in the United States. The book also delves into information about Puerto Rico, which has sparked their interest in learning more about this unique place that blends both Spanish-speaking and English-speaking cultures. \r\n\r\nReading is so important for second language acquisition. It helps students naturally acquire vocabulary and grammar structures in context. When the text is comprehensible to them, it's also enjoyable! I find that even high school students love to be read to and find themselves enjoying a book, in spite of themselves!
