They were overjoyed and were shouting out titles they recognized and asking if they could be the first to check out the new books. It truly touched my heart to see and hear their joy and watch as your donations help foster a love of reading in my students. There was a series donated that one particular class of mine was especially excited about. They are reading the first book with their classroom teacher but when they saw we now have the rest of the series, they were thrilled!\r\n\r\nI always tell my students that I want them to challenge themselves when they read. They can pick easy, comfy reads, of course, but I also want them to be picking books that are challenging their thinking and pushing them outside of their comfort zone. The new books that you donated are doing that. They are reading content from other cultures that are not their own and learning about acceptance and awareness. They are reading books that help them learn new words and new concepts with your donations.\r\n\r\nI am so very grateful and moved that strangers would donate their money to support and foster a love of reading in students you don't even know! It's been such a special teaching moment to tell my students where the books came from and how incredible it is to support people you don't know and how it brings us all together! These books will touch my student's lives, and mine, for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1760473703313,"projectUrl":"project/all-the-cool-kids-are-reading/9401929/","projectTitle":"All the Cool Kids Are Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9632575"},{"teacherId":9224437,"projectId":8574357,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for your generous contribution to my \"Learning is COOl\" project through Donors Choose. Your contribution has already made a significant impact on the intervention students I work directly with by creating engaging learning experiences and fostering essential skills. Thanks to your generosity, I have been able to implement math and literacy intervention in a space that isn't a sauna. The Portable Air Conditioner has made a huge impact on my kiddos, they can actually learn instead of complaining about the heat. \r\n\r\nYour belief in the importance of creating a supportive learning environment has not only benefited our current students but will continue to positively influence the lives of many more in the years to come. Anytime we can use hand's-on tools, it makes learning more fun. I have already used most of the items, I received. \r\n\r\nMy math intervention students have benefited from the base 10 blocks to help understand and visualize numbers and learn place value. We also do a lot of work on dry erase boards, so the new colorful markers have added excitement to their learning. \r\n\r\nThe students I work with in literacy, have enjoyed many of the hand's on manipulatives. The snap together blocks are great for fine motor skills and learning letter names and sounds. The tent card holders really help for creating and decoding CVC words and blends. \r\n\r\nWe are enjoying these new learning tools.","fullyFundedDate":1727462887166,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-for-growing-minds/8572209/","projectTitle":"Hands on Learning for Growing Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Orth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9258746"},{"teacherId":9632003,"projectId":8573487,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the support that you have given to our classroom in providing materials for our project, which is based on mindfulness in the classroom. I am trained as a Montessori teacher, and one thing that that training has provided to me throughout my years in education has been the importance of the \"prepared environment.\" The prepared environment is a well thought out and intentionally curated classroom environment. It provides a space for students to feel safe, secure, and well taken care of. Specific materials are needed in order to create this space. \r\n\r\nBecause of your generous donation I have been able to provide alternative seating for children to collaboratively or independently work around the classroom. At times it proves challenging for children to sit at a desk for an extended amount of time. The lap desks and cushions that you provided give children the opportunity to move throughout the room and sit in a place that is more conducive to their learning. In addition, the beautiful Tibetan singing bowl that you donated is what we use to start our quiet reset circle every day after recess and lunch. The children have enjoyed taking turns playing it, and it is an auditory signal for us to focus and go inward. We sit on the cushions in a circle and play the bowl and pass a small \"quiet stone\" around while we work on our breathing exercises. It has proven to be a wonderful practice in which the children can have a moment of silence and get ready for their afternoon. \r\n\r\nIn regulating this practice I am hoping to create mindfulness within the children in hopes that they become aware of their feelings and their need to quiet their minds in order to move throughout life intentionally. We very much appreciate your support and will continue to utilize these materials in the best possible way.","fullyFundedDate":1727462773804,"projectUrl":"project/instilling-mindfulness-and-self-regulati/8573487/","projectTitle":"Instilling Mindfulness and Self-Regulation Through Yoga and Meditation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Spiller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9632003"},{"teacherId":870179,"projectId":8574539,"letterContent":"First of all, let be begin by saying thank you so much for your support to fund my classroom library! As an art educator, most, if not all of my budget is spent on consumable art supplies and there is little left for books. \r\n\r\nMy students need support in literacy in all aspects of their learning day and art is a great place to reinforce reading in a different way. We use images as well as words for text in art. Our students are learning to 'read' art in a way that allows them to talk and write about what they observe and think. \r\n\r\nAside from visual art connections to the books, students are gaining understanding and coping skills for tough things like big feelings and respect. I choose to prioritize these ideas in my class book collection to give kids another opportunity to engage in concepts that don't always come easily and are important to revisit on a consistent basis. \r\n\r\nWe discuss the material in the books and get to practice as a class how to talk to and treat each other in a kind, respectful way. Students also get the chance to read about and practice multiple strategies for how to handle emotions in a safe way. \r\n\r\nThe games and playdough allow students to engage in fun activities with their peers that once again, allow them to practice the skills we read and discuss. Students also benefit from different ways to manipulate materials to strengthen fine motor skills in art.","fullyFundedDate":1727462798119,"projectUrl":"project/cultivating-diverse-social-emotional-su/8574539/","projectTitle":"Cultivating Diverse, Social Emotional Super Heros!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp870179_orig.jpg?crop=1394,1395,x0,y92&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737567496637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/870179"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42433","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":619,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.7,"schoolId":42433,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eyestone Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eyestone Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/poudre-school-district/eyestone-elementary-school/42433"}
