I am a brand new special education teacher serving students with significant support needs, and your generosity allowed me to provide a bunch of high-impact materials for learning, play, and sensory/emotion regulation. We received little things like beginner writing paper with highlighted lines, and big things we would really struggle to provide without donations, such as large L-shaped room dividers and the beloved wooden \"cozy cube\", which plenty of students use as a quiet place to rest and get away from the noise. \r\n\r\nStudents were very excited to see new learning and play materials in the classroom when the year started, and these items have become staples in our routines. The room dividers allow us to section off areas of the room to maximize focus and block out distractions, such as for circle time and desk work. My students have the opportunity to play with the musical instruments daily at circle time (and we really practice sharing with that glockenspiel). We practice counting by putting toppings on the wooden pizza or putting bugs in the frog's mouth at math time. The sensory pad and sandpaper letters/numerals provide fun and engaging ways to introduce reading, writing, and math concepts. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are off to a great start, and I am so grateful for the numerous resources available to me for teaching them.
