The portable desks were perfect for that! In addition, the weighted blanket was perfect for my calm down corner. It was calming for some to have the weight and others liked to hide under it to escape for a bit. \r\n\r\nAlso, I received a large rug that my whole class could fit on. This way no one was left out or had to sit outside of a circle. \r\n\r\nThank you for your generous donations that truly effect the lives of our youth.","fullyFundedDate":1727462797328,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/8574121/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Larsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9244250"},{"teacherId":9295568,"projectId":8578197,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for the generous donations that have brought such joy and meaningful opportunities to our classroom! \r\n\r\nThe items we received are being used in a variety of ways to support our students' growth and development. They're often enjoyed in groups of friends, whether during open playtime or teacher-led small group activities. The kinetic sand and tools have been an incredible addition, especially during our Safe and Sound Protocol sessions. This listening intervention, created by Dr. Stephen Porges, helps our students with nervous system regulation and increased flexibility. The sensory activities, like working with the sand, support their engagement during these listening sessions, providing the perfect balance of focus and calming sensory input. Having extra tools ensures every child feels included and supported in their sensory exploration. \r\n\r\nWe also purchased fine motor activities designed to support sensory input and help students practice grasping. These tools are particularly beneficial for students with significant motor needs, such as those with disabilities or cerebral palsy, and they are making a tangible difference. \r\n\r\nOur space tent and astronaut play suit have become favorites for group exploration and imaginative play. The dramatic play activities not only spark creativity but also help our students develop cognitive skills, problem-solving abilities, emotional regulation, and social skills like turn-taking and conflict resolution. \r\n\r\nAll of these resources are bringing so much excitement and value to our classroom. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us create an environment where our students can grow, learn, and thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1727462935150,"projectUrl":"project/high-engagement-in-play/8578197/","projectTitle":"High Engagement in Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Julie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9295568"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41821","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":331,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.2,"schoolId":41821,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Manitou Springs Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Manitou Springs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/manitou-springs-school-district-14/manitou-springs-elementary-school/41821"}
