Having enough books for everyone has completely transformed the way we read in class. Instead of relying on only reading at school because students could not take books home, my students are now able to continue annotating, flipping pages together, and engaging with the mystery as it unfolds at home as well. The excitement of solving the crime before the famous detective Hercule Poirot has made our classroom feel like a team of young detectives at work.\r\n\r\nThis novel introduces students to essential skills in literary analysis—character motivation, point of view, foreshadowing, and the structure of a classic mystery. We've discussed how Christie builds suspense and plants clues, and students are learning to identify how small details contribute to larger themes of justice and morality. These are not only literary skills but also critical thinking and problem-solving skills that they can apply in all areas of their learning.\r\n\r\nSome of my most reluctant readers have become the most enthusiastic during our discussions. One student who rarely participates raised his hand to predict the ending—and then proudly explained how Christie misleads her readers through red herrings. Another group has started a \"Detective Wall\" in the back of the classroom, connecting clues and suspect motives with string and sticky notes. The sense of ownership and curiosity this book has sparked is exactly what I hoped for when I started this project.
