They also focus on finding the main idea and supporting details to summarize key points accurately. Additionally, students analyze text features such as headlines, captions, photos, and graphs to gather extra information and deepen their understanding. Through regular practice with Scholastic News, fifth graders are becoming more confident and strategic readers of informational texts.\r\n\r\nUsing Scholastic News has also been a new and interesting way to read; it offers current, engaging topics and a change from our regular curriculum, which can sometimes feel monotonous.
