Now during our daily 10 minutes of warm-up choice reading in class, every kid has something they love! I'm fighting less battles about reading because they are just engaged in the pages. This was great timing for students to get a little something after working hard on finals. I had bookmarks that were scented and kids picked their favorite scent to encourage reading in the new year. I had fun pencils and pens to encourage lots of writing. The new books were a hit, especially The Hunger Games series, and students eagerly checked out these brand new books to keep their choice reading going over winter break. These books will bring lots of delight into the new year too! Thank you for all your support in helping with big and little things in the classroom. We read about the possibility of colonizing Mars. We read argumentative articles about the pros and cons of sending humans to outer space and then students formed their own opinion and wrote their own essays. The space-themed pencils and stress balls were a hit with the kids and made the unit more fun. We also referenced our planet poster daily, such a nice visual! The nonfiction books about space helped supplement our learning and a few kids checked them out for choice reading. The beginning of the year has been a whirlwind and has gone splendidly! Much of this is due to your generous donation of my playdoh, dry erase markers, Current Events magazines, fun spinner, and the classroom laminator. These materials have made it much easier for me to engage my learners and keep track of data. My students are excited to use the spinner to put some excitement into class by spinning for activities. Our current events magazines have been very timely with the articles in it; giving my students a variety of resources as they learn in my room. The folders and binders have provided students an organized space for the project-- they have been able to keep their packets (with notes about the project) organized and in-order. The students are now building their projects-- some are using cardboard only, but for the students using the modeling clay, they are using it to build their walls. They will soon be adding small furniture to their models as the finishing touches!\r\n\r\nAll of the supplies have greatly enriched both my classroom and the possibilities explored in this project. Students have been eager to build the models all throughout, but the learning we did before model-making was essential and enriched because of the supplies we we got for this project.","fullyFundedDate":1739667236730,"projectUrl":"project/the-clay-model-project/9114281/","projectTitle":"The Clay-Model Project!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Roach","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9248087"},{"teacherId":9240596,"projectId":9113401,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous support in providing digital tablets for our students. These tablets are not just devices—they are doorways to creativity, expression, and the development of real-world skills that our students will carry with them into the future.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, we are thrilled to announce that next school year we will be launching a year-long digital painting class! This exciting new course wouldn't be possible without the impact you've made through these tablet purchases. Our students now have access to professional-level tools that allow them to explore digital art in ways they never imagined. Students will be gaining hands-on experience with technology used by artists, designers, and animators in today's workforce.\r\n\r\nOne story that truly highlights the power of your generosity comes from a student who fell in love with using the tablet so much that she asked for—and received—the same model for her birthday! Moments like these show how deeply these tools are inspiring and motivating our students. Thank you again for believing in our kids and helping them dream bigger and reach higher.
