Rather than viewing movement or sensory needs as misbehavior, this project explicitly taught students how to recognize what their bodies need and use healthy strategies to regain focus. The project supported students in developing self-awareness, self-management, perseverance, responsible decision-making, and independence. It also provided an alternative to lost instructional time when students were struggling to regulate their emotions or bodies.
