They traded snack-pack smiles and sketched a mural scene,\r\nA world of colors blooming where a grey week had been. What's next? We'll host a \"country corner\" — students lead and teach, each table tells a history, and each poster is within reach. One of the first projects we completed with the materials was a budgeting and financial-planning activity where students worked in groups, created real-world scenarios, and presented their strategies using the supplies you helped provide. Having everything they needed—without having to borrow, share, or worry—made them feel confident and prepared.\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up. Many of them are immigrant students who have gone through incredibly challenging situations, both before arriving in the United States and while adjusting to a new language and culture. Knowing that they had all the resources they needed, ready for them, helped remove stress and allowed them to focus on learning. They felt seen, supported, and valued.\r\nBecause of your support, my students can now participate fully in every lesson. Our next steps include a long-term financial literacy project where students will design a personal budget and analyze spending habits using hands-on tools. The toothbrushes, hygiene kits, and bandages have already made a significant impact on our learning environment, equipping my students with essential supplies to support their personal well-being. These resources have not only enhanced our classroom discussions on health and hygiene but have also encouraged students to develop lifelong healthy habits.\r\n\r\nOne particularly meaningful classroom project involved a hygiene awareness workshop where students learned about the importance of daily self-care routines. Using the toothbrushes and hygiene kits, they practiced proper brushing techniques and discussed the significance of oral health. Additionally, we conducted a first-aid session where students learned how to properly use bandages and treat minor cuts. This hands-on activity empowered them with practical knowledge they can apply in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nThe moment my students first saw the materials was truly heartwarming. Their faces lit up with joy as they explored the hygiene kits and realized they had their very own personal care items. Many of them come from backgrounds where such supplies are not always readily available, so receiving these essentials was incredibly meaningful. Their gratitude and excitement were evident as they eagerly participated in our health-related activities.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve integrating these hygiene tools into ongoing lessons that reinforce the importance of maintaining good health. We plan to expand our discussions on wellness by exploring topics such as nutrition, the importance of handwashing, and overall self-care practices. Additionally, students will work on a final project where they create a personal wellness plan, outlining daily habits that promote a healthier lifestyle. This will allow them to apply their learning in a meaningful way, fostering responsibility and self-care.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful to our donors for their generous contributions. Each student was assigned a fictional salary and a list of monthly expenses, including rent, groceries, transportation, and entertainment. Using the calculators and reference materials, they had to create a balanced budget while making financial decisions about saving and spending. The posters help students connect visually with key concepts, while the shelves create an organized, inviting space for independent learning. Even essentials like wipes ensure our materials stay clean and ready for use.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled! Their joy and curiosity made it clear how much these resources mean to them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're excited to incorporate these tools into upcoming projects. For example, students will use the talking cards to brainstorm ideas and practice verbal storytelling for a creative writing unit.
