With the shift to remote learning, they missed out on crucial opportunities to stay active, build teamwork, and connect socially. As we work to rebuild those experiences, your donation—and the generous match from the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation—has made all the difference.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we were able to purchase the Sportime Giant Soccer Ball and the SWOOC XL Giant Kick Darts Set—and let me tell you, the moment our students saw this equipment for the first time, their faces lit up with pure joy and amazement. Laughter filled the gym as students kicked, ran, and collaborated in ways we hadn't seen since before the pandemic.","fullyFundedDate":1727462949844,"projectUrl":"project/opportunities-for-growth-and-success/8576974/","projectTitle":"Opportunities for Growth and Success:","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9633216"},{"teacherId":9201465,"projectId":7877429,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our students are gaining a deeper and more hands-on understanding of how the human body works—something that textbooks alone can't quite capture. The 1-lb. Fat and 1-lb. Muscle Replicas have become a powerful visual and tactile tool in our health and science lessons. Many of our students were shocked to see and feel the difference between fat and muscle, sparking meaningful conversations about body composition, nutrition, and physical activity. It's one thing to hear that \"muscle weighs more than fat\"—it's another to actually hold the difference in your hands!\r\n\r\nThe SmartLab Squishy Human Body Kit has added a huge excitement factor to our classroom. Students love dissecting the squishy organs and learning where everything fits together. The hands-on nature of this kit encourages curiosity, and it's been especially impactful for visual and kinesthetic learners who thrive when they can touch and manipulate what they're learning about.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular—a curious 5th grader who had never shown much interest in science before—has taken a huge interest in anatomy since we introduced the kit. She now asks thoughtful questions about how the body works and often stays after class to explore more.\r\n\r\nThese tools have made our lessons more engaging, relatable, and memorable. The moment I introduced the pods to my students, their eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. We started off with a basic reaction drill where students had to tap the lights as they flashed randomly. The gym echoed with laughter, competition, and pure energy—it was an instant hit. Students who are typically more reserved during PE were fully engaged, eager to beat their previous reaction times.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've integrated BlazePods into several fitness circuits and team challenges. One memorable project involved pairing students up to work on agility and focus drills, incorporating short sprints and rapid light-tap responses. It wasn't just physical—it sharpened mental alertness and decision-making too. As we move forward, we plan to use the BlazePods in our next unit focused on sports performance and neurological fitness, helping students improve their coordination, balance, and cognitive reaction skills. These tools are also inclusive for students with different learning and physical needs, allowing everyone to participate and succeed at their own pace.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity. Your gift didn't just provide new equipment—you created moments of growth, joy, and confidence for every student who walks into our gym.","fullyFundedDate":1723084977506,"projectUrl":"project/enhance-physical-literacy/8560170/","projectTitle":"Enhance Physical Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9201465"},{"teacherId":9251296,"projectId":8566778,"letterContent":"We are so thankful for your support with our project. Oftentimes, teachers from around the school ask us to borrow our fidgets as well. \r\n\r\nReceiving these packages was so fun for our students. Each time we got a new one, we would open it as a class and talk about how each item could help us grow. They were all so excited to have new resources in the classroom. \r\n\r\nWith new art supplies, our crafting has been unlimited. The snacks have significantly impacted our classroom environment. By providing a variety of snacks, I've addressed a fundamental need for my students, ensuring they have the energy to learn and thrive during the school day. Many of my students come from low-income families and often arrive hungry, so having these snacks available has transformed our mornings and afternoons. We've integrated snack breaks into our schedule, making them a time to pause, recharge, and refocus. This has also created opportunities for meaningful conversations about healthy eating habits and sharing with others, fostering a sense of community in our classroom.\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, their excitement was priceless. For some, seeing their favorite treats was a simple joy, while others expressed relief knowing they wouldn't have to wait until lunch or home to eat. This immediate positivity translated into better focus and participation throughout the day. With this support, I've accomplished more academically and socially. Students are less distracted by hunger, more engaged in lessons, and better able to collaborate with their peers. The materials provided have allowed me to create a more equitable and nurturing learning environment, ensuring all students have the necessary resources to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1726767080415,"projectUrl":"project/energizing-young-minds-with-snacks/8569281/","projectTitle":"Energizing Young Minds with Snacks!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Loubriel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7828625_orig.png?crop=876,876,x480,y128&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693623347682","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/y-loubriel"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108082","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":589,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.2,"schoolId":108082,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Highline Academy Northeast on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Highline Academy Northeast","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/denver-public-school-district-1/highline-academy-northeast/108082"}
