The books and materials purchased for this project served as a wonderful culminating activity for my primary level multi-lingual learners to embrace the joy of reading in English.\r\n\r\nThe materials for this project helped to provide my class with a wide array of Pete the Cat books. Students got to select a book they were most interested in reading. Then, they were placed in small groups by the book they selected and engaged in reading circles in English using the text they chose. Students created craft projects to align with their texts and even enjoyed bringing their book home at the end of the project. Your donations ensured that each of my third and fourth grade multilingual education students not only got to participate in a novel study with the text Rez Dogs but that they also got to bring this wonderful and inspiring book home to add to their personal library.\r\n\r\nMy students were able to engage in a full novel study in English from cover to cover; together, we made text to self, text to text and text to world connections. They were able to genuinely connect to the characters in the book and explore different cultural perspectives within contemporary Native American communities. We ended this unit by writing letters to the author, Joseph Bruchac, celebrating the things we enjoyed about the text; many students requested he write a sequel! We hope he has an opportunity to respond to our letters. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful that you helped make this wonderful shared reading experience possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1742768666767,"projectUrl":"project/joyous-shared-reading/9179902/","projectTitle":"Joyous Shared Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olympia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9297991_orig.jpg?crop=323,323,x396,y200&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742261913481","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/fancy-stefanski-k"},{"teacherId":9297991,"projectId":9039097,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our project 'Sticker Stories Fun!'. The flexible seating, including floor desks and a cozy bean bag chair, has allowed students with different learning styles to feel more comfortable and engaged. For example, during a recent reading session, students who often struggle with focus were able to use the weighted stuffed animal for comfort and concentration, helping them stay on task and better absorb the material. The addition of headphones has also provided an opportunity for students to engage with digital learning tools without distractions, while the calm-down corner posters offer a space where students can manage their emotions and refocus when needed.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable! Students were thrilled to see the new items, especially the weighted stuffed animals and flexible seating options, which immediately made them feel more comfortable and supported. Looking ahead, we are continuing to focus on improving fluency and comprehension in our English lessons. With the comfort and flexibility provided by these resources, students are able to relax, concentrate, and dive deeper into their \r\nreading. Your donation has created an environment that nurtures learning and growth, and we can't wait to see how it continues to benefit our students as they develop both academically and emotionally. Thanks to your support, our 3rd and 4th graders spent the past four weeks eagerly diving into the four books, engaging in lively discussions, and preparing for an exciting trivia competition. It was inspiring to see the students develop a genuine enthusiasm for reading, with many discovering new book series they now adore. Your contribution not only made this event possible but also fostered a love of literature that will benefit our students for years to come.\r\n\r\nThis donation has made a meaningful impact on our school community. Beyond improving reading comprehension and fluency, it brought students, teachers, and families together around the joy of storytelling. It has already made such a difference in the lives of our students, and we couldn't be more grateful!\r\n\r\nThe students have absolutely loved having the speaker at our events. From dancing along to the music to playing interactive games with the tunes being played, it has brought so much joy and energy to our activities. One of the highlights was during our Halloween parade, where we used the speaker to play festive music as the students proudly walked and showed off their costumes. It truly added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the event.\r\n\r\nBefore receiving this amazing speaker, we were using small, portable speakers and relying on loud voices to ensure the students could hear us. It was definitely a challenge, and we often found ourselves scrambling to make sure everyone could enjoy the moment. This new speaker has completely changed that for us, and it's made such a positive impact. The students can now fully immerse themselves in the music and activities, and their excitement has been absolutely contagious!\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful contribution has brought so much happiness to our school community, and we are incredibly thankful. It's the kind of gift that keeps on giving, bringing smiles to faces and creating memorable experiences for our students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and support.
