The books and materials purchased for this project served as a wonderful culminating activity for my primary level multi-lingual learners to embrace the joy of reading in English.\r\n\r\nThe materials for this project helped to provide my class with a wide array of Pete the Cat books. Students got to select a book they were most interested in reading. Then, they were placed in small groups by the book they selected and engaged in reading circles in English using the text they chose. Students created craft projects to align with their texts and even enjoyed bringing their book home at the end of the project. Your donations ensured that each of my third and fourth grade multilingual education students not only got to participate in a novel study with the text Rez Dogs but that they also got to bring this wonderful and inspiring book home to add to their personal library.\r\n\r\nMy students were able to engage in a full novel study in English from cover to cover; together, we made text to self, text to text and text to world connections. They were able to genuinely connect to the characters in the book and explore different cultural perspectives within contemporary Native American communities. We ended this unit by writing letters to the author, Joseph Bruchac, celebrating the things we enjoyed about the text; many students requested he write a sequel! We hope he has an opportunity to respond to our letters. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful that you helped make this wonderful shared reading experience possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1742768666767,"projectUrl":"project/joyous-shared-reading/9179902/","projectTitle":"Joyous Shared Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olympia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9297991_orig.jpg?crop=323,323,x396,y200&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742261913481","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/fancy-stefanski-k"},{"teacherId":9297991,"projectId":9039097,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our project 'Sticker Stories Fun!'.
