Your generosity provided us with engaging materials that allow our students to learn important math skills through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.\r\n\r\nOur students have been using the number puzzles to practice putting numbers in chronological order. They love working together to figure out which number comes next, and it has been wonderful to watch them talk through their thinking and help one another. We are also using the materials on our light-up table for sorting and counting activities. The light-up table makes these math activities especially exciting and encourages students to explore numbers, quantities, and patterns in a fun way.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic stand-up board and magnetic numbers and pictures have also become a favorite classroom resource. Students can physically move the numbers and pictures as they practice counting, matching quantities to numerals, and organizing objects. Being able to touch and move the materials makes abstract math concepts much more concrete for our young learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were SO excited! They immediately wanted to explore everything. Their excitement quickly turned into conversations about numbers, counting, sorting, and figuring out how the pieces worked together. It was wonderful to see students who may not always be eager to complete a traditional math worksheet become completely engaged because they could actually touch, move, build, and explore.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building our students' understanding of numbers 0–20. We will be using these materials to practice recognizing numbers, counting objects, matching quantities to numerals, putting numbers in order, and sorting objects in different ways. We will also continue encouraging students to explain their mathematical thinking to their classmates and work together to solve problems.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and giving them opportunities to learn mathematics in such a meaningful and exciting way. Your support has helped turn math learning into something our students can see, touch, explore, and enjoy!","fullyFundedDate":1778562422537,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-up-learning-hands-on-math-fun/10237179/","projectTitle":"Lighting Up Learning: Hands-On Math Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brice","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4172924_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1482717458256","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michelle-brice"},{"teacherId":4655704,"projectId":10318310,"letterContent":"I would like to personally thank you for your generous donation to my Kindergarten classroom. When my students first walked into the speech room and saw the new materials, their faces lit up with pure joy. They especially love the wiggle seats! For many of my students, sitting still in a rigid plastic chair takes up so much cognitive effort that focusing on speech tasks becomes overwhelming. Having seats that allow them to move safely and comfortably was an instant game-changer. One student who usually struggles to stay seated for even five minutes happily settled onto a wobble cushion, completely engaged and eager to dive into our session.\r\nWe have already put these tools to work. During our articulation and language sessions, the new games have transformed high-repetition practice from a chore into something they genuinely look forward to—all while bouncing and wiggling gently to meet their sensory needs. The difference in their attention and willingness to participate has been amazing! \r\nLooking ahead, our next big step is generalizing these newly built skills beyond our speech room. As students master their target sounds and sentence structures through these interactive tools, we are working on carrying that clear, confident communication into their general education classrooms, morning routines, and playground conversations. Your generosity has provided my students with a space where their sensory and learning needs are truly honored.
