Your contribution of an ice maker, hygiene products (toothbrush, deodorant), snacks, socks, undergarments, feminine products, and the LifeVac device has made a profound impact on the well-being and comfort of our students. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, your donation of snacks, socks, hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, and under garments has provided essential comfort and support to our students coming from low-income households. These items are often overlooked but are crucial in ensuring that our students feel cared for and valued at school. Also, the addition of the ice maker to our health room has greatly enhanced our ability to provide immediate care for injuries and other student needs.\r\n\r\nYour generosity in providing these necessities has made a significant difference in the lives of our students, allowing them to focus on their education without worrying about their basic needs. Your donation will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for them at school.","fullyFundedDate":1741048401762,"projectUrl":"project/health-office-needs/8942388/","projectTitle":"Health Office Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. ODONNELL","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9835930"},{"teacherId":9300636,"projectId":8933308,"letterContent":"The Art Department at Sabin Middle School extends heartfelt thanks to Karey Duarte and the Shoen Foundation for your generous support of our Wiggle & Create: Channeling Wandering Minds into Artistic Focus grant.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, we introduced flexible seating options that have made a meaningful difference for many students. I initially worried that providing only 25 bouncy-footed stools for classes of 30 might lead to conflicts, but on the very first day, the students were excited and eager to try them out. While some gently swayed and found calm, others preferred traditional stools—just as expected. Our lively 6th grade boys initially used the stools to bounce around the room, but with guidance, we found that quiet movement helped many focus during instruction.\r\n\r\nI'm glad I trusted my intuition that not all students would want the swaying stools. Several students chose the \"quiet artist\" area, a more secluded spot with desks and chairs outfitted with chair bands. Many naturally used these bands to swing their feet gently while working, which helped them stay engaged.\r\n\r\nSeveral students privately thanked me for creating a space where they could self-regulate. The soothing motion of the bouncy stools, combined with a variety of fidget tools, helped them maintain focus. We also had valuable conversations about how different fidgets work uniquely for each student, as captured in the photo I shared.\r\n\r\nThis year, I have retired and passed the art classroom—with its flexible seating and fidget options—to a wonderful teacher who embraces and supports all her students' needs. During a recent visit, I was delighted to see students fully engaged and focused on their artwork in a vibrant, dynamic classroom—exactly the environment I hoped to create.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donation. Alongside the flexible seating, the sensory strips, mini pop fidgets, and other tactile tools have helped improve proper use of art materials and fostered a more productive learning space.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly made a lasting impact on Sabin's art program!","fullyFundedDate":1741048401014,"projectUrl":"project/wiggle-create-channeling-wandering-m/8933308/","projectTitle":"Wiggle & Create: Channeling Wandering Minds into Artistic Focus","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sauvain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9300636_orig.jpg?crop=2999,2999,x0,y269&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731200095013","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9300636"},{"teacherId":8979589,"projectId":9194744,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of LEGO Spike Prime extension kits into my classroom! This semester I began teaching a new adaptive STEM class with 12 severe-needs special education students combined with six seventh grade peer leaders. It has been so valuable to have new classroom materials for all types of learners, and it has been amazing to witness the level of engagement with both the special education students and the peer leaders. I can assure you that students are engaged in building and coding, especially all genders because of the colorful pieces. So far we have built the break dancer, hopper for a race, robotic arms to clean up trash (as seen in the photos submitted), and will soon be moving onto mechanical scooters and bluetooth weather machines. Students with special needs who might not be able to complete a typical classroom activity can use the LEGO Spike Prime materials for modified assignments. Once students complete the LEGO builds, the drag and drop coding enhances problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and teamwork. I like how the online unit lessons can meet a variety of student learning levels, all while students are having fun!","fullyFundedDate":1747190883115,"projectUrl":"project/expand-minds-with-lego-spike-prime-expan/9194744/","projectTitle":"Expand Minds with Lego Spike Prime Expansion Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ryden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8979589_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693071373106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8979589"},{"teacherId":9247209,"projectId":8562702,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations. The outdoor sports equipment has become very popular for all kids who know I have it, and now students come to me frequently to borrow the basketball, soccer ball, volleyball, football, and kickball. I especially like the indoor movement activities, like cup stacking and scarf juggling, for days when many students are completing projects while others have earned some inside free time. All the new resources really do \"force\" students to interact with each other instead of staring at screens. I'm a strong believer that many sixth, seventh, and eighth graders need to get up out of their classroom seats for blood to flow to their brains, and this equipment has given students at Sabin Middle School more opportunities to do so.
