The materials have been in the hands of my students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. While some of the materials are basic in nature, they are necessary for the fundamental functioning and production of projects in my classroom. \r\nBudget cuts are a sad reality, however the expectations and standards of work in my classroom remain unchanged. Donors Choose is an amazing resource for teachers. I have encouraged all of my art peers to utilize this program if they are seeking funding. I have been able to sustain the supply of materials that are considered a staple in my classroom.\r\nOne of my goals as an art teacher is to allow my students to experience making art with a variety of materials. My classroom studio is a safe place for them to express themselves, learn different art processes and find out for themselves which materials they prefer. \r\nI thank you on behalf of my students for your donation to help fill my shelves with materials for them to explore.","fullyFundedDate":1756862199100,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-the-basics/9570790/","projectTitle":"Back to the Basics!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9244144"},{"teacherId":1585502,"projectId":8564514,"letterContent":"The impact of this project will be long-lasting for the preschool classroom. By introducing light table materials, the initiative directly addresses the educational and emotional challenges young children face in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's a summary of the key impacts:\r\n\r\nEnhanced Learning Opportunities: Light tables offer a multisensory, hands-on approach to learning that promotes exploration of colors, shapes, textures, and patterns. This supports early STEM skills and visual literacy in a playful, engaging way.\r\n\r\nEmotional and Sensory Support: The calming, glowing light creates a soothing environment, which can help reduce anxiety and stress. This is especially critical in the post-pandemic context, where many young children are still learning to navigate their emotions and social interactions.\r\n\r\nSocial Development: The materials support small-group and individual activities, allowing children to safely collaborate and build social skills while adhering to health and safety protocols.\r\n\r\nMotor Skill Development: Manipulating small objects on the light table fosters fine motor skills, coordination, and tactile engagement—key components of early childhood development.\r\n\r\nSupport for Play-Based Learning: The project aligns seamlessly with a play-based curriculum, enriching it with new opportunities for creativity, imagination, and discovery.\r\n\r\nRestoration of Joy and Normalcy: Perhaps most importantly, this project helps restore a sense of wonder and joy in the classroom—elements that are essential for healthy growth and development in young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1723141220783,"projectUrl":"project/illuminating-learning-for-our-resilient/8564514/","projectTitle":"Illuminating Learning for Our Resilient Preschoolers!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parsons","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1585502_orig.jpg?crop=444,444,x276,y98&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1650680576786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1585502"},{"teacherId":9305208,"projectId":8574760,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting the students and the robotics program at Freedom Elementary School. The Code and Go Mouse sets have been a way to expand the devices and tools that students can use for coding, problem-solving, collaborating, and team building. The Code and Go Mouse sets include coding cards, coding tasks, and manipulatives that allow for differentiation to meet individual needs and various learning styles of students. \r\n The Code and Go Mouse sets can be used with various grade levels as well as allow for buddy grades to work together. We have had fifth grade students partner up with kindergarten students to program and code with the Code and Go Mouse sets for math problems and sounding out words. The Code and Go Mouse sets are also another tool that students can use to learn more about Computer Science to gain valuable skills that will help them as they get older. \r\n The pictures included highlight a first grade class using the Code and Go Mouse sets for the first time.
