My students spent months learning melodies, harmonies, lyrics, choreography, and blocking. They knew their stuff, but then they had to actually go on stage and show it off to all of their family and friends. This took so much courage, but it was much easier when they were able to don a costume and look the part.\r\n\r\nFor these children, this musical is a right of passage. It teaches them more than just notes and dance steps. It teaches them teamwork and diligence. Most importantly, it teaches them that they can do hard things. \r\n\r\nMoving on to Middle School is an exciting time for kids, but it is also a little intimidating. Working hard for a culminating event like their musical, Rock Around the 50s, proves to them that they can succeed.
