Because of you, each sophomore and several juniors received a 3-ring binder to help them stay organized. Most of the students, until now, have \"saved\" their papers by shoving them into their backpacks or into a spiral notebook.\r\n\r\nOnce the binders arrived in late August, we began binder-building. Students arranged their dividers from another Donors Choose grant into unit sections, and began placing their school work into the rings. Lost assignments, duplicate handouts, and \"I never got that\" are things of the past. Students now know exactly where their materials and school work are--whether completed or in-progress.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the students, the supplies have helped my co-teacher and I. Sophomores in high school have so much trouble staying organized, and your dividers help them know exactly where everything is in their notebooks! After the notebooks arrived, but before your dividers came in, students were literally just stuffing papers into their backpacks (never-to-be-seen-again!) and sticking them between the covers of the binders without hooking them in. Assignments were not only a mess but also getting lost.\r\n\r\nWith the dividers, students have been organizing their work by unit, clipping their assignments and notes into the correct section of their binders, and we can now easily look for work that they may be missing in the gradebook or that they never received.\r\n\r\nYou not only helped the students, but also my co-teacher and me. We are thrilled to introduce an exciting opportunity for our students to explore the world of literature through Kindle devices. With these handy gadgets, students can dive into a vast collection of e-books from a diverse array of talented authors. \r\n\r\nThis initiative proves invaluable, especially when our library's selection of hard copies is limited or when students find themselves without their school computers. Many students cherish the tactile experience of reading on a Kindle, as it offers a comforting, book-like feel that enhances their engagement with the story. This allows them to read independently and immerse themselves deeply in their chosen narratives during their silent sustained reading time. \r\n\r\nThank you for your generous support in fostering a love for reading among our students!","fullyFundedDate":1723161182872,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-and-access/8569538/","projectTitle":"Literacy and Access!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schuman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8771970"},{"teacherId":9343864,"projectId":8580024,"letterContent":"I hope this note finds you well! I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of materials to support my speech sessions at SHH. Your contributions have made a significant impact on my students' learning experiences, and I cannot thank you enough.\r\n\r\nThe \"Chat Chains\" game has been a fantastic addition to our social skills groups. It has provided an engaging way for students working on social pragmatic goals to connect more deeply with one another. I've witnessed many moments of growth as they navigated conversations, built on each other's ideas, and developed their communication skills in a supportive environment. Your donation has truly fostered a sense of community among my students.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the book \"Stir, Crack, Whisk, Bake\" has been a wonderful resource during our cooking group in the ILC. The step-by-step instruction book has allowed us to engage in literature while also creating delicious cupcakes together. This book reinforces not only our culinary skills but also teamwork and following directions. The joy on my students' faces as they proudly presented their cupcakes was priceless. Your donation made this memorable experience possible!\r\n\r\nWhile these are just two examples of how your donations have made an impact, I want to thank you for your whole donation including all the other items. I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for your generous donation of books to my classroom. Your kindness has truly made a difference, and I am so excited to share the impact your gift has had on my students.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, books are more than just pages filled with words—they are windows to new worlds, mirrors that reflect their own experiences, and doors that open to opportunities they might never have imagined. Thanks to your donation, my classroom has become a space where stories come alive and curiosity flourishes. Students who were once reluctant to pick up a book now find joy in exploring stories that resonate with them, while others eagerly dive into new genres and authors, expanding their horizons.\r\n\r\nJust last week, one of my freshmen discovered their favorite book on our shelf, exclaiming, \"I didn't know books could be this good!\" Another student, who rarely spoke in class, recently shared during a discussion that a novel we read helped them better understand their own challenges and gave them the courage to express their feelings. Moments like these are invaluable, and they are made possible because of you.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided access to literature but has also shown my students that there are people who believe in their potential and value their growth. It's a reminder to them—and to me—that a small act of kindness can create a ripple effect of inspiration and change.\r\n\r\nThank you for being part of my students' journey.
