From the moment they first saw the blankets and books, the school was filled with excitement. Students eagerly explored the book selections and proudly chose a blanket of their own. What made the experience even more special was their enthusiasm in helping one another—passing out books and blankets, making sure every student felt included and supported.\r\n\r\nThese resources are already making a meaningful difference. Each student is able to take a book and blanket home, creating a warm and comfortable environment for reading outside of school. This simple addition has encouraged students to spend more time reading at home, helping them strengthen their literacy skills.\r\n\r\nBeyond improving their reading abilities, students are also sharing their new books—and their growing confidence as readers—with their families. The response from our students has been incredible. The first time they saw the new Calm Down Corners, many were immediately drawn to the cozy seating, sensory tools, and calming visuals. I saw students quietly exploring the space, trying out the stress balls, soft lighting, and mindfulness materials. Some even shared, \"This is my favorite spot!\"\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stands out is during a particularly busy day in the classroom. A student who was feeling overwhelmed after a challenging math lesson went to the Calm Down Corner. Within minutes, I noticed their breathing slow, their posture relax, and they were able to return to class activities with a calm, focused mindset. Seeing the students use the space independently and thoughtfully has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to integrate the Calm Down Corners into daily classroom routines. Students will be encouraged to use the space proactively to manage stress, prepare for tests, or even reflect after group activities. We are also introducing small journaling prompts and mindfulness exercises in the corners, helping students develop lifelong emotional regulation skills.
