Since mid-march we have been using the materials from this project to start growing veggies! Now, with only one week of school left, we are busy planting the garden and putting in place all the awesome components we were able to purchase because of your generous donation.\r\n\r\n We used the grow stand with lights to start our veggies back in March. The students had such a fun time setting up the stand and learning how to position the lights just right so that their little plants had the perfect amount of light to thrive. Just last week we finally started planting outside. We used the hoops to put fabric over the plants at night as we have had a few nights below freezing. This has kept our plants alive! We have installed the irrigation system so that our plants will continue to have water over the hot summer while we are away from the school. This has been a really great project for the students. They have had to measure, get creative, and draw up plans and learn how to install the irrigation system so that all the plants receive water. It has been a great team work building skill!\r\n\r\nAs our last week of school draws near, we are so grateful for the tools that have allowed us to plant this garden with confidence. We are mulching the garden and setting up the shade cloth over less sun loving plants and know that with the regular water over the summer, we will be coming back to thriving plants next August. This has built excitement for the students as they will not only be able to eat the fruit of their labor but we are hopeful we will have extra produce to share with their families and the community through donations to our neighbors at Pine River Shares.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make this garden project possible.","fullyFundedDate":1727463011918,"projectUrl":"project/heatwave-veggie-growing-masters/8574089/","projectTitle":"Heatwave Veggie-Growing Masters","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wirak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9632328"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42302","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":404,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":76.2,"schoolId":42302,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bayfield High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bayfield High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/bayfield-school-district/bayfield-high-school/42302"}
