The Gaiam classic balance ball chair has been a wonderful addition, giving me a flexible seating option that keeps me active and comfortable throughout the day. My students also enjoy using it occasionally during group activities — it helps them stay focused and engaged. The magnetic whiteboard erasers, Scotch tape dispenser, and staples have made daily routines so much smoother, allowing us to stay organized and efficient during lessons and projects.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful parts of this project has been the addition of the 36 wall pockets for phones and the menstrual kits. The wall pockets help promote a distraction-free environment by giving students a safe and consistent place to store their phones when class begins. This simple routine has significantly improved attention and participation. The menstrual kits, meanwhile, have provided essential support and dignity for my female students. Having these resources readily available ensures that students never have to choose between their comfort and their education — and that message of care and inclusion means a lot in our classroom community.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom that balances structure, compassion, and engagement. From the practical tools that keep us organized to the thoughtful items that ensure every student feels supported, each donation has made a meaningful difference in how we learn and grow together. The new ergonomic desk chair and L-shaped computer desk have completely transformed my workspace, allowing me to stay organized and comfortable during long days of teaching, grading, and planning. Having a dependable and supportive setup means I can give more of my energy and focus to my students rather than worrying about discomfort or clutter.\r\n\r\nMy students are also benefiting directly from your kindness every single day. They use the two-pocket plastic folders to keep track of their handouts and assignments, which has noticeably improved their organization and responsibility. The Expo Dry Erase Markers and BIC Cristal pens have become classroom staples — the markers help students demonstrate their learning during whiteboard activities, and the pens make their written work look crisp and professional. I also use the Paper Mate Flair felt pens to grade and give colorful, encouraging feedback that helps students feel seen and motivated.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a classroom environment that's both efficient and inspiring. Your contributions have truly transformed our classroom and opened up new possibilities for my students. With the new financial literacy resources, we've been able to launch engaging, hands-on activities that bring real-world money management skills to life. One highlight was our recent \"Classroom Marketplace,\" where students used play money to buy and sell goods, budget for expenses, and even save for future purchases. Watching them collaborate, make decisions, and problem-solve was inspiring—they were so proud to apply what they'd learned in a fun, practical way.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up as they explored the interactive games, colorful books, and budgeting kits. Many exclaimed, \"This is just like real life!\" and couldn't wait to dive in. The excitement in the room was contagious, and it was clear that these resources sparked their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about money.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're building on this momentum by starting a \"Savings Challenge,\" where students set personal savings goals and track their progress over the next month. For many of our learners, access to essential learning tools like calculators was previously limited due to financial constraints. Thanks to your donation, students are now better equipped to engage with mathematics and science coursework—subjects that are foundational for college and career readiness.\r\n\r\nThe availability of calculators has enhanced classroom participation, improved performance on standardized tests, and helped students build confidence in problem-solving. Teachers have noticed a marked difference in how students approach challenging concepts, and we've seen increased enthusiasm and progress in math-related subjects.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided a practical resource—it has sent a powerful message to our students: that their education matters and that there are people who believe in their potential. Students who were once hesitant to express themselves now eagerly participate in activities, share their ideas, and collaborate with their peers. The project's engaging materials and thoughtful guidance have helped even the quietest students find their voice, boosting their confidence both academically and socially.\r\n Through the project's innovative approach, my students have developed stronger critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The hands-on activities and thought-provoking challenges have encouraged them to ask questions, explore new concepts, and approach learning with curiosity and enthusiasm and also helped them to build social and emotional skills working together on collaborative projects.\r\n\r\n Once again, thank you for your help and contribution to empowering young minds. These hands-on activities have helped students grasp abstract ideas more effectively, making learning both fun and meaningful.\r\n\r\nBeyond scientific understanding, these supplies have encouraged collaboration and creativity. Group projects have become more interactive as students design colorful diagrams, concept maps, and visual representations of biological processes. Students are able to actually get into the correct swimming positions without having to worry about water in their eyes.\r\n\r\nWe've been able to use the hand paddles, even though it wasn't their favorite activity. It did emphasize correct hand placement and helped to create lightbulb moments for some of the students. They finally started to understand at exactly which angle their hands should enter the water. The resistance bands have also been useful for students who forget their swim clothes or are not feeling well enough to get into the water. As an adult, I wish that I had these kinds of lessons in high school, so that I could have had a better idea about how to save money, how to spend money, and how to invest money. \r\n\r\nAs my students are working through their lessons, they brainstormed some ideas about how to save money. Some of them are more focused to their individual needs, however, many of them also specified ideas such as buying groceries and cooking at home rather than eating out at restaurants. Other smart ideas are reusing items such as plastic takeout containers, ziploc bags that are still fairly clean, using hand-me-downs, or shopping at thrift stores or outlet stores. A few kids who have credit cards or pay their own phone bills or car insurance noted that paying your bills on time saves money because there is no late fee added.\r\n\r\nThis learning, and these great ideas, come from your help. Because you gave us the means to teach about financial literacy using realistic-looking fake money, calculators, and construction paper, we were able to learn so much about how to be financially savvy.","fullyFundedDate":1733266672447,"projectUrl":"project/financially-fit-freshmen/8947439/","projectTitle":"Financially Fit Freshmen","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bednarski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5359228_orig.jpg?crop=345,345,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693595125462","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5359228"},{"teacherId":9219065,"projectId":8543733,"letterContent":"On behalf of myself and the science students at Adams City High School, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation toward a new laptop.
