We were able to outfit our life skills kitchen with some much needed new items. Students enjoyed using the new griddle to make their own grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas. They also used our microwave for a taste test comparison and loved the griddle quesadillas so much more! The silicone cutting knives have been so extremely useful for a variety of uses. We recently had our senior graduation celebration and were able to safely allow two of the seniors to cut the cake for their classmates without worrying they might cut themselves as well. \r\n\r\nPracticing wrapping place settings has been interesting. My students all seem bemused by this concept. We are continuing to work on this and place settings in general which they enjoy as a \"fancy\" meal. Kitchen safety is paramount but so is having fun and from the smiles and photos I'm getting during this class period I know we're learning and experiencing new opportunities. With our new supplies we have cooked: grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, bean burritos, brownies, two kinds of cookies, 3 kinds of dump cakes, Jell-o fluff and French Toast, S'mores, and Rice Krispie Treats! \r\n\r\nWe look forward to our incoming students and next year's culinary adventures.
