This will help struggling readers by encouraging them to understand the building blocks of reading which is phonics. Before your donation, I didn't have the materials I needed to be able to teach this with creativity and fun.\r\n\r\nOther items are math games and manipulatives. This will strengthen math skills in a fun and unique way. After my students read on their new beanbags, they partner up and write a review for all to see. When my students write about their book, more students become engaged in reading AND writing. With this project, we were able to add flex seating as well as a calming corner to our studio space. The students love being able to grab a cushion and color comfortable from any area of the classroom. They also love using the cushions to build mazes and forts - so many creative uses! Our calming corner has been a success. Students needing a break can cozy up on the biggest cushion, grab a sensory squish or a book and take a few minutes to center themselves. Students are using the fidgets to regulate their emotional control center of their brain, which promotes an optimal learning environment for all. Flexible seating options allow students to choose their optimal learning spot in the classroom.
