The middle school has put in FCS for only the past two years. To bring technology into this curriculum is valuable to the industries the FCS promotes such as culinary, child development, education and design. \r\nThis has allowed the middle school students to use programs such as Tinkered to make objects for use in the class as part of the curruiumon. I also will enhance areas such as culinary arts.\r\nThis past year I borrowed printers from a local school to complete the cookie cutter project. Students are in the 7th grade and always eager to cook and bake. They have been working on math, reading, measuring, and teamwork skills in order to complete a recipe. I had the students make a cookie cutter using the printers and then they used their cookie cutter to create the cookies from homemade cookie dough. They were so excited. \r\nNow with our own 3D Printers I will use them for other grades, 6th and 8th. They have been asking, but I had limited time. They are excited to use it for other areas of FCS. Thank you so much for the donation.","fullyFundedDate":1771785723319,"projectUrl":"project/print-tools/10082272/","projectTitle":"Print Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bricker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3587761"},{"teacherId":3330579,"projectId":9554504,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom! Your help allowed us to reload our centers for students to continue to build and make.\r\n\r\nThe first thing they noticed was the new Chompsaw. 7th grade was in the middle of their cardboard creations projects when it came in. The tool allowed them to get more intricate with their designs because they had this tool to cut with. I also noticed kids that were struggling with other ways of cutting, had a new revived sense of making when they got to use this new tool! Each class was super impressed with what they could do.\r\n\r\nAs part of our whole school initiatives, we are looking to building reading and writing into all aspects of the school day. We just got our first set of Scholastic Art magazines that were donated. The first issue talks about sports but through an art lens which hooks so many of our kids! It also opened up an entire online library of activities and articles for us to use this year.\r\n\r\nAs for the rest of the generous supplies, students have already dug into using every supply we asked for. Perler beads were being used in 6th grade for a Pixel art project, and a new class just finished using them. Our spring semester kiddos will now have enough fun colors to do their projects as well! We were down to the very last hot glue sticks when our order appeared....such timing! In 8th grade, students incorporated supplies, including the foam clay, into their puppet builds and are now creating their performances with their buddies. 7th grade tried paper quilling this fall semester and will be trying needle felting to create ornaments for the holidays.\r\n\r\nIt has been an unusual year with our loss of funding mixed with expanded numbers of students to work with. Because of your donation, you have lowered their risk and provided for their curiosities! Thank you for making that happen!\r\nAll 6th grade students get a taste of makerspace. Their main projects include Pixel Art, Sewing Monsters, and Weaving Jellyfish. Interwoven in between, they are offered other materials to explore. \r\n7th grade kickstarted a Peace Garden display in our building that contributed to the SPARKPEACE 2025 project with students from around the world.
