Each session, students use the materials to safely practice poses, deepen stretches, and relax during guided mindfulness activities. They have so much fun using these tools. One special moment happened during a recent session when students used the blankets for a quiet relaxation at the end of class. The room became calm and focused, and even students who are typically very energetic were able to slow down, follow their breathing, and fully engage in the moment. It has created a welcoming space where students can build both physical strength and emotional awareness.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the yoga blocks and blankets, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to begin and couldn't wait to try out the new equipment. As we started using them, students quickly became more confident in trying different poses, especially with the added support of the blocks. Many shared how much they enjoyed the cozy feeling of the blankets during relaxation time, and several students expressed that yoga club quickly became their favorite part of the week.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our yoga club, the next steps include helping students build independence and confidence in leading parts of our sessions. Students will begin to guide simple stretches, breathing exercises, and short relaxation routines for their peers. We also plan to connect mindfulness practices to their daily lives, encouraging them to use these strategies in the classroom and at home. Thanks to your generosity, our students are developing lifelong skills in mindfulness, focus, and well-being while feeling supported, calm, and excited to learn each week.","fullyFundedDate":1769859011193,"projectUrl":"project/building-balance-and-confidence-with-yog/9824172/","projectTitle":"Building Balance and Confidence With Yoga Blocks and Blankets","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holliday","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9914633_orig.jpg?crop=1097,1097,x0,y10&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738958538490","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9914633"},{"teacherId":7059667,"projectId":9759683,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your generous donation. The fine motor games help improve visual motor skills which impact learning, reading, and writing. The bean bag chair is a safe space where students can sit to feel regulated or they can use it to layover and get some great proprioceptive input while working on something using their arms and hands. This helps strengthen their neck, arms and shoulder girdle. The weighted stuffed animals have been a big hit with the students and they enjoy using them while working on tabletop activities. I have already begun using them at our school with an after school club for 1st grade students. They love yoga club!\r\n\r\nAs soon as the students saw the mats and got to unroll them, their faces lit up with joy. They jumped up and down with excitement, grinning from ear to ear. It was a moment of wonder and pride - a small gesture that made them feel seen, special, and cared for. Every day I see them in the halls. Each one of them asks and begs for more days of yoga club. \r\n\r\nYour gift has done more than provided equipment - it has opened up a new space for these young minds to move, breathe, and grow. Each week, the mats are used not just for stretching and poses, but as a foundation for mindfulness, calm, and confidence. For many of our students, this is their first introduction to yoga and to the idea that their bodies and minds are string and worthy of care. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our kids and supporting their well-being.
