Having a classroom rug has made such a meaningful difference in creating a warm and welcoming space for my students. Before this project, we didn't have a rug, so having a special place where we can all come together has changed the feeling of our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the rug! They immediately wanted to sit on it and couldn't wait to use our new classroom gathering space. One of my favorite moments was during our first morning meeting on the rug. As my students sat together, they looked around and said how much they liked having a special place where \"everyone can sit together.\" It was such a simple moment, but it reminded me how important it is for first graders to have a space where they feel that they belong.\r\n\r\nWe now use the rug every day for morning meetings, read-alouds, class discussions, lessons, and celebrations. It has become a special place where we come together, share our ideas, listen to one another, and learn as a group.\r\n\r\nOne of my biggest goals as a first-grade teacher is for my students to feel like they belong. I want our classroom to feel less like just a room where we learn and more like a little community or family where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported. The rug has given us a physical space to build those connections and create special memories together.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will keep using our rug as a place to learn, celebrate, and grow together. Thank you for helping me create a classroom where my students can feel safe, connected, and proud to be part of our classroom family. My students love building, experimenting, and working together to figure things out. The books have also given us more choices during reading time, and I love watching students find a book that catches their attention and proudly tell me about it.\r\n\r\nEven the reward prizes have made a difference. My students get so excited when they earn something for showing kindness, making good choices, or working hard. My students were very excited when the STEM materials arrived, and they couldn't wait to start exploring them.\r\n\r\nThe activities have already made learning more engaging and hands-on. Students loved using the piggy bank coin cans to practice counting and sorting money. It turned math into something they could see and touch, and many of them were excited to show their classmates how they organized their coins.\r\n\r\nThe make-your-own sticker sets were also a big hit. Students enjoyed designing their own stickers and sharing their creations with friends. It gave them a chance to be creative while also practicing fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nThe truck-building sets quickly became a favorite during our STEM time. Students worked together to build their trucks using the gears and bolts. I loved seeing them problem-solve, help each other, and feel proud when their trucks finally came together.\r\n\r\nI teach at a Title I school, and many of my students don't often have access to activities like these outside of school. This has been especially helpful for language development and other foundational skills. The book bins give students a place to keep their books organized, and they enjoy having their own space for their materials. It has helped them take more responsibility for keeping their things in order.\r\n\r\nThe rolling cart has also helped keep our weekly worksheets organized and easy to access.
