They tuck right under our white boards, providing a very efficient use of space in a very crowded classroom. The kids have developed their own systems for getting books for their groups and organizing their supplies. Student Agency -ownership and responsibility -is a critical part of AVID and our students are better able to exercise this agency as a result of the organization they \r\nprovide. Prior to that, I just had piles of things on the back counter. \r\n\r\nOrganization is one of the Pillars of the Avid philosophy -WICOR includes Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading. Our bookshelves help us stay organized and help to facilitate effective collaboration.
