The hula hoops, jump ropes, and balls have quickly become a favorite part of our day.\r\n\r\nWe've been using them during our outdoor playtime and in simple movement activities. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students try hula hoops for the first time, some were spinning them, others were stepping in and out, and a few turned them into \"steering wheels\" for imaginary cars. With the balls, we've practiced rolling to a partner and taking turns, which has been great for building early social skills. The jump ropes have been especially fun too! many students aren't quite ready to jump yet, but they love dragging them, making shapes, and using them in creative play.\r\n\r\nWhen I first brought the equipment out, the students' faces lit up. There were lots of \"Wow!\" and \"Can I try?!\" moments, and they could hardly wait to get started. It was one of those simple but joyful experiences that really sticks with you.\r\n\r\nNext, we're going to use these materials to support a unit on cooperation and following directions. We'll practice simple games, taking turns, and working together as a group. These resources are helping my students build confidence, coordination, and friendships, all through play.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible for my little learners. It truly means so much to us!","fullyFundedDate":1774963701968,"projectUrl":"project/jump-play-grow-tk-in-motion/10172055/","projectTitle":"Jump, Play, Grow: TK in Motion","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leslie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10422255"},{"teacherId":9917972,"projectId":10020946,"letterContent":"Since receiving support for this project, my students have been able to engage with learning in a much more hands-on and meaningful way. The new materials and resources have helped introduce important early learning skills such as fine motor development, early writing readiness, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative expression. Through playdough, students are strengthening the small hand muscles needed for writing letters and numbers. With magnetic tiles, they are exploring early math concepts like shapes, patterns, and spatial reasoning while working together to build and design. The instrumental bells have also added a new layer of learning by helping students develop listening skills, rhythm, and sound recognition.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, reading and learning look interactive and engaging. Students are not just sitting and listening—they are touching, building, creating, and exploring concepts through play-based learning. We practice skills in small groups, whole group discussions, and hands-on centers where students can learn at their own pace. The laminating machine has also helped me create durable, reusable learning materials that students can use independently, which builds confidence and independence during literacy and math activities.\r\n\r\nMany of my students are especially excited about these new resources. Students who are typically hesitant to participate are now more engaged because they can learn through movement and hands-on activities. My English learners and students who need extra support are thriving because they can see, touch, and manipulate materials as they learn new concepts. Overall, these resources have helped create a more inclusive, joyful classroom where all students feel successful and excited to learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1773876584153,"projectUrl":"project/little-learners-big-dreams/10020946/","projectTitle":"Little Learners, Big Dreams!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ornelas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9917972_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772649129762","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9917972"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_122216","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":290,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":97,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 7","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.3,"schoolId":122216,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Voices College - Bound Language Academy West Contra Costa on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Voices College - Bound Language Academy West Contra Costa","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/west-contra-costa-unified-school-district/voices-west-contra-costa-county/122216"}
