Now that we have our routines down and are ready to \"dig in\", our learning is fun! We are learning and doing our best by doing , moving letters around, matching letters and making words! Many of us are just learning the letter names. We love taking the letters out of the bag and finding its match. Since we started doing each morning we are recognizing letters faster. The more we see it the better we become AND the more we want to keep learning! In the morning it is sometimes difficult to start the day . This activity wakes up our brains in a good way. \r\n\r\n Two children came to me and asked if they could practice their letters together using the letter tiles and trays during free time. They were so happy and they began to take turns being the teacher. This melted my heart. They helped each other and were having so much fun ! Repetition is the key and this tool gives it to them! The next day they started to sound out words and making the words! Which led them to see some of the words we were working on in a book I was reading to them! Success!\r\n\r\n Thanks to you donation other teachers have come into the classroom to see how we use them. They are looking to use them in their class. Parents saw them at Back to School Night. Parents were amazed and said their children have talked about it at home. Thank you so much! We appreciate you so much ! You are helping make learning fun and building strong readers and writers! We are using the items daily to create a calm, welcoming environment where students feel safer and better equipped to handle the challenges they face at home and at school. The updated visuals, soothing lights, and kid-friendly touches help set the tone for our sessions, allowing students to open up more easily and engage in meaningful conversations. This supportive atmosphere has encouraged students to practice self-regulation strategies and build coping skills with greater confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first walked into the updated space, their reactions were filled with excitement and relief. Many commented on how much \"lighter\" and \"safer\" the room felt, noting that the new lights were less overwhelming and the environment felt more comfortable for them. They loved the added visuals, which made the space more engaging and relatable. It was heartwarming to see their eyes light up and hear them express how much more inviting the room felt—it quickly became clear that the new resources had transformed not just the space, but also their sense of belonging and security within it.","fullyFundedDate":1749730399504,"projectUrl":"project/caitlins-mtss-project/9407199/","projectTitle":"Caitlin's MTSS Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gallagher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988180"},{"teacherId":9808241,"projectId":9097311,"letterContent":"I can't stress enough how grateful my class and I were for the resources you provided. My students were very enthusiastic about completing classroom work so that they could engage in all the different activities the resources provided.\r\n\r\nBy far, the most popular were the STEM activities and the math games. It was heart-warming to watch students working together, consulting directions and having fun building a roller coaster, erecting a bridge and having hands-on experiences with different gears and competing in fun and peaceful way.\r\n\r\nMath concepts were reinforced in an entertaining way as students matched their wits with the problem solving bingo game. This game in particular was very insightful as I observed students solving problems. One student solved problems very quickly mentally, while others used paper and pencils. \r\n\r\nThe joy students had engaging in these different activities was by far the most rewarding. Students were proud when they won the different bingo games because they had to actually solve multiplication, fractions , decimals and division problems in order to win. They were proud when they completed the Roller Coaster and other engineering activities. And they loved learning about atoms and molecules as well as the names of different geometric shapes.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity, insightfulness and the love you show for our students. These activities added refreshing hands-on experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1743654964005,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-ii-play-and-learn/9097311/","projectTitle":"Hands On II-Play and Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Townsend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808241"},{"teacherId":9808241,"projectId":8936072,"letterContent":"Our workshop time has been very productive, interesting and fun for the students. They had so much fun learning about the elements using the coloring pages of the elements. The coloring pages piqued the students interest in the elements and they enjoyed reading about each one.\r\n\r\nIt has been so heart warming for students to ask to play the different phonics and comprehension games. They have their favorite ones. These games have helped to reinforce phonics lessons, like long vowel sounds and blends. These are especially great for 2nd language learners. \r\n\r\nThese materials will be an integral part of our workshop time and also offer alternative activities when students complete class work early. I am so happy to have these kinds of hands on materials that give students a break from regular class work.","fullyFundedDate":1733250804193,"projectUrl":"project/busy-learners-science-and-reading/8936072/","projectTitle":"Busy Learners-Science and Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Townsend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808241"},{"teacherId":9808241,"projectId":8889299,"letterContent":"I cannot express the joy and appreciation I have felt every time students choose to select the various materials supported by your donations, especially during our Workshop time. \r\n\r\nThe concentration and excitement students are having while completing the STEM Robotic Science Kits-building different robotic toys far surpasses the concentration many have with reading passages or working in work books. They are now more attentive when I am able to relate math, reading and science to the stem projects. Other students found the math games fun and challenging, especially the Do You Even Know Math game where they have to try to quickly make equations. The quickness of some of the students even amazes me. \r\n\r\nIt was refreshing to notice the interest students had reading the Scholastic News, Science Spin and Time Magazines. Each of the reading groups (4-5 students/group, with a student group leader) not only read the assigned article, but most of the students read other articles in the magazine-without any prompting from me. To listen to the different students give opinions about cell phone usage in class after reading the article was so rewarding. The article also gave me a wonderful opportunity to point out the structure of opinion writing and can serve as a reference for their own writing.\r\n\r\nThe art supplies have been invaluable in helping students express their creative side. They look forward to future art class activities, but can now choose to select this option for workshop time. These resources provide a refreshing break from traditional academics but also lend themselves to creative ways to show comprehension of text, such as our upcoming activity of painting a scene (they read) from the novel we are reading, Esperanza Rising. I can't wait to see these productions. \r\n\r\nI can't even express how grateful I am for having these resources for my class, especially when we started the school year in our temporary location with only the bare minimum of resources. I look forward to students continuing to use these resources and to explore other ones we have not yet used.","fullyFundedDate":1731349352059,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on/8889299/","projectTitle":"Hands On!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Townsend","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9808241"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4226","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":245,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.8,"schoolId":4226,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stege Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stege Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/west-contra-costa-unified-school-district/stege-elementary-school/4226"}
