When I first introduced the Makerspace cart, it was a huge surprise for my students. They had been eagerly working toward earning a \"Game Day,\" and when they finally did, they were beyond excited to discover the new materials—especially the marble run, which quickly became a class favorite! The moment they started building, I could see their creativity and problem-solving skills in action as they experimented with different track designs to make the marbles go faster or change directions.\r\n\r\nSince then, the Makerspace has become a go-to space for collaboration and innovation. Students have been using the LEGOs to design structures, solving brain games and puzzles to strengthen their critical thinking skills, and, most importantly, developing confidence in their ideas. The energy and excitement they bring to each challenge show just how much they love exploring and creating.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I plan to integrate the Makerspace into even more lessons, giving students opportunities to design, build, and experiment as they learn. Whether it's engineering challenges, storytelling with LEGO creations, or open-ended problem-solving, these materials are truly inspiring creativity in my students.\r\n\r\nThis Makerspace wouldn't have been possible without your support, and I can't thank you enough for making such a meaningful impact in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1723699615342,"projectUrl":"project/building-creative-minds-a-lego-powered/8659854/","projectTitle":"Building Creative Minds: A Lego-Powered Makerspace for Innovative Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7686568_orig.jpg?crop=2640,2640,x262,y383&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629257555752","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7686568"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85441","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":699,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":28,"percentAsian":79,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"26.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":94.0,"schoolId":85441,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Walnut Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Walnut Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/walnut-valley-unified-school-district/walnut-elementary-school/85441"}
