It allowed our books to come in early so we can get a much earlier start this year.\r\n\r\nYou can only imagine my delight when I recently received the shipment and opened the box to find that all the books came to us hardcover. That was an unexpected surprise and should hold up well for this project and more.\r\n\r\nWe are just now starting to invite students to participate in the book club and I believe this will be the most popular yet. I am hoping to do two sessions of 12 students each. I can't wait to hear how the students connect with each book. Having a carpet in my classroom has made a significant difference—it has created more space and flexibility for movement throughout the room. The students are now able to transition easily from their tables to their individual carpet squares, which is where I deliver direct instruction. This setup has greatly improved their focus during lessons. Additionally, the carpeted area provides an ideal space for students to engage with the robotics and coding tools we use, allowing for more effective hands-on learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746618101461,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-in-the-imagineering-lab/9200917/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating in the Imagineering Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rivera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2937959_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628059249765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-seabrook"},{"teacherId":2522523,"projectId":8922682,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous contribution to my project. It has been such a fun journey our students have been having together.\r\n\r\nThe first book they chose to read was \"Three Strikes Summer\" by Skyler Schrempp which was set during the Dust Bowl when a family moved to California to start working in a peach grove. Together we looked into what the Dust Bowl was and how it impacted families. (Did you know it was one of the worst MAN MADE environmental disasters ever?) We acted out one of the key scenes in the book and the students decided they would like to create a \"Book Trailer\" for the book with our Communications Teacher, Ms. Stevenson, and submit it to Teaching Books for posting on their website. They will be starting that soon.\r\n\r\nWe are now finishing up \"New From Here\" by Kelly Yang that is set during the Covid Pandemic. The students all had something to add to our conversation about their experiences during Covid. We are also looking into discrimination that took place during that time.\r\n\r\nI thank you for the opportunity you gave us all to create these memories that will last a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1727658520619,"projectUrl":"project/remarkable-reading-through-great-books/8548470/","projectTitle":"Remarkable Reading Through Great Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Natalie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7514885_orig.jpg?crop=391,391,x1,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1602287405659","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7514885"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38611","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":707,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"32.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.0,"schoolId":38611,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Casita Center for Technical Science & Math on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Casita Center for Technical Science & Math","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/vista-unified-school-district/casita-center-for-tech-science-math/38611"}
