Many of our learning programs and assessments require audio support, and having individual headphones means every student can now listen clearly, work at their own pace, and stay focused without distractions. This has been especially helpful during reading practice, math fluency activities, and online assessments, where audio directions and supports play an important role in student success.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most is having their own headphones to use during learning time. They feel a sense of responsibility and independence when they put on their headphones and get started. It has helped create a calmer, more focused learning environment, especially during small-group work and independent practice.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who previously struggled to stay focused or were hesitant to participate in digital lessons have really blossomed with the headphones. The privacy and clarity of sound helps them stay engaged and feel more confident. English Learners and students who benefit from repeated audio directions have especially benefited, as they can listen as many times as they need without feeling rushed.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has helped my students stay engaged, feel confident, and take ownership of their learning every single day!","fullyFundedDate":1704318239913,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-focus-with-headphones/7858650/","projectTitle":"Help Us Focus With Headphones!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8105344_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663367937353","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missmora"},{"teacherId":8105344,"projectId":6828881,"letterContent":"My students and I have been using our new STEM bin materials every day, and they have truly transformed our classroom! We use them during our morning soft start as well as for indoor recess, giving students consistent opportunities to explore, create, and problem-solve in a fun and meaningful way. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students work together to design a structure that could \"withstand an earthquake.\" They tested, failed, redesigned, and celebrated their success—it was amazing to see their perseverance and teamwork in action.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless—there were so many smiles, gasps, and immediate excitement. They couldn't wait to get started and were instantly engaged. Even students who sometimes struggle to stay focused were eager to participate and remained on task for extended periods of time.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are building critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity skills every day. Our next steps are to incorporate more structured STEM challenges that connect to our science units, such as building habitats, designing solutions to environmental problems, and integrating math concepts like measurement and geometry into their creations. I also plan to have students reflect on their designs and explain their thinking, helping to deepen their understanding even further.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students these incredible hands-on learning opportunities—we are so grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1669610355216,"projectUrl":"project/the-future-is-stem/6828881/","projectTitle":"The Future is STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8105344_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663367937353","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missmora"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40521","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":602,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":75,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"27.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":88.2,"schoolId":40521,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Willow Glen Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Willow Glen Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/visalia-unified-school-district/willow-glen-elementary-school/40521"}
