The first project we were able to tackle was a project for science. The students completed an entire unit on the water cycle and the finale of the unit required them to make their own water cycle poster. The new construction paper supplies helped them be able to complete their posters. Something as simple as paper is so necessary in our day to day tasks as well. In our math groups students use the construction paper to create word problems connected to our unit. They then do a gallery walk with their table group to try and solve everyone's problems. The colorful paper makes this a much more engaging activity! \r\nThe gift of a new bean bag chair was also met with extreme excitement. I've been waiting all year to allow students to sit at our back carpet for silent reading time. Now that we have flexible seating I am able to randomly select a student each day to sit at our carpet and they get to choose a friend to sit with them. This bean bag chair makes all the difference in some students being excited about our silent reading time. \r\nOverall this project has meant so much to my class because they believe that there are people in the community and our world that care about education and care about them. Children's success is less about material things and a lot more about knowing the people they are working worth care about them and want them to be successful. Thank you for being a part of this process and caring for children's education.
