The new resources have already made a noticeable difference in our daily routines and student engagement.\r\n\r\nOur students jumped right into using the supplies for our current curriculum projects. Right now, they are working on their personalized lab safety posters, using the new colored pencils and sharpener to bring their designs to life with bold, vibrant colors. Beyond art supplies, the new reading line guides have become an essential tool during our independent reading assignments; they allow students to track text smoothly and stay focused line by line without getting overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nWhen the packages arrived and we unboxed the materials, the room instantly filled with excitement. While they were thrilled about the art supplies, the absolute highlight was seeing the new board games, especially Connect 4. Their eyes lit up knowing these were saved for our reward days, and it instantly created a buzz of anticipation for our upcoming celebrations.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will complete and present their lab safety posters to their peers, ensuring our room is filled with student-created reminders of how to stay safe during experiments. As we move into our next major reading and science units, students will continue leaning on their line guides to tackle more complex texts and dive into hands-on group work.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students the tools—and the motivation—they need to succeed every single day!","fullyFundedDate":1778192318189,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-engagement-from-pencils-to-pl/10272108/","projectTitle":"Tools for Engagement: From Pencils to Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zakikhani","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10500748"},{"teacherId":3541809,"projectId":9814616,"letterContent":"I cannot begin to thank you enough for your generosity in providing the materials needed for this project. Several students explained that this was a success and that they sincerely enjoyed this project. \r\n\r\nMany students expressed interest in learning how to use a sewing machine to make practical things like pillows and blankets. Through this donation, I was able to provide students the opportunity to learn how to set up and use a sewing machine, create a pillow, and enjoy the feeling of finishing a sewing project. Many students have never even picked up a sewing needle and thread, so this was a great introduction for them. \r\n\r\nThe students loved learning how to sew and I can honestly say they did a GREAT job. We even have enough left over material so that we can do this again next school year. Thank you so much for providing this opportunity. \r\n\r\nThe next big idea is to make blankets and pillows for homeless and women shelters.","fullyFundedDate":1769177653843,"projectUrl":"project/pillow-projects-sewing-our-first-steps/9814616/","projectTitle":"Pillow Projects: Sewing Our First Steps","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Potter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3541809_orig.png?crop=797,797,x0,y15&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760114126035","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3541809"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74159","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1069,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":82,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"22.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":74159,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakeside Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakeside Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/val-verde-unified-school-district/lakeside-middle-school/74159"}
