I have already put it to good use. I know you studied physics in college, so you know the material can be pretty tricky, especially for these high school students taking AP. The College Board makes the problems super challenging. I pride myself on getting the most engagement and teaching students the skills to succeed. One of these is the skill of reading complicated text! So many students nowadays go through school and really do not read or learn complex material from texts. They prefer watching videos or being directly told. Reading is key to success in college, and a skill that needs to be fostered and developed. The textbooks we have are not aligned with the AP content. Most of the textbooks are new editions of material that was written in the 70s. \r\nI posted a few pictures. You can see the printer set up. Some students have been helping me print and bind each unit. We are currently in unit 5 of 8. I just finished writing Unit 6, so I will be printing those out after the holidays. I have two more units to write, Simple Harmonic Motion and Fluid Dynamics. After that, I am done! Will feel so great to finish, but then I am on to writing a book for AP Physics 2 ( Thermo, Circuits, Waves, Modern). I will take a rest before I dive into that! Thanks again. I really appreciate the help. Your money went a long way and directly impacted students.","fullyFundedDate":1760745558453,"projectUrl":"project/ap-physics-1-with-no-need-for-a-screen/9754220/","projectTitle":"AP Physics 1 , with No Need for a Screen!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10276926"},{"teacherId":1470040,"projectId":8618968,"letterContent":"\"That was one of the coolest things that I have ever done in school.\" That was a statement from one of our students after we performed our Fetal Pig Autopsy. To be able to afford pigs for our students we need the help and generosity of others. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to make this happen. And all you have to do is hear that one quote, and it is obvious that it was a worthwhile contribution.\r\n One of the most exciting parts of this activity was that is was not only the top students who were engaged. There was a wide variety of students who were actively participating and enthusiastically embracing this lab exercise. That is not to say that everyone loves digging into a dead pig. There are other students who did not enjoy the messiness of the activity. But a lot of students who began by not wanting to participate, ended up full participants. Getting students to leave their comfort zones is not easy, but it is very worthwhile for their growth, confidence and learning.\r\nThe pig's similarity to our own anatomical make up makes this activity useful for understanding a wide variety of information about our class, but also about ourselves. Every year when we reflect on the experiences of this course, the Pig Autopsy is constantly on the top of cherished memories. \r\nWith our limited budget, the only way that this activity can occur is thanks to your generosity. So, thank you for helping our students, and getting the best possible reaction a teacher can ever hope to have from their students.","fullyFundedDate":1723653180301,"projectUrl":"project/a-pig-help/8618968/","projectTitle":"A Pig Help","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Colarusso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-colarusso"},{"teacherId":1470040,"projectId":8615112,"letterContent":"Gloves may not be the most exciting thing to raise money for, but they really are a key to unlocking a wide variety of activities. We are constantly asking students to leave their comfort zones, in order to grow and learn. In Anatomy and Physiology, leaving the comfort zone can be scary, but also gross. \r\nWhether we are dissecting a heart, performing an autopsy on a fetal pig, or pulling on chicken tendons to observe muscular and skeletal interactions, students are much more willing to participate if they do not have to touch the specimen directly. Gloves provide not just a physical barrier, but a psychological one as well. This allows students to get past the unease of touching something different, and allows them to investigate many incredible and fascinating aspects of how our bodies work.\r\nGloves help with numerous labs, so we need a lot of them over the course of the year. The generous contribution have helped a large number of students with a large number of activities. That makes these contribution enormously valuable.\r\nThank You for your Generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1723821233407,"projectUrl":"project/lovin-the-glovin/8615112/","projectTitle":"Lovin' the Glovin'","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Colarusso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-colarusso"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59388","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2710,"numTeachers":119,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":17,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.7,"schoolId":59388,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eastlake High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eastlake High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sweetwater-union-high-school-district/eastlake-high-school/59388"}
