Students look forward to their turn with \"the beans\" during our math centers, and ask to have the sensory table open during free choice play time. You can always hear the joy and conversation as a product of huddling around the table.\r\n\r\nIn the early days of fall, I filled the table with colorful fall colored beads shaped like acorns and leaves. Students were asked to count and make patterns with these objects. As December came along, I switched out the fall items for Santa hats, Pom Poms, cups, and holiday themed erasers. I've been handed \"cups of hot cocoa\" a number of times since the shift.\r\n\r\nOne of the most surprising aspects the sensory bin has added to our classroom, is the concept of cleaning up as a team! Students crawl around searching for beans and even come up with the most efficient ways to pick them up. As you can imagine, beans show up in all areas of the classroom now, but the joy the table brings is worth the mess. :)","fullyFundedDate":1721229918956,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-social-and-emotional-learning/8483167/","projectTitle":"Supporting Social and Emotional Learning in Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Elizabeth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9583535_orig.jpg?crop=1542,1542,x0,y51&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720210818703","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9583535"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5215","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":226,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.9,"schoolId":5215,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sonoma Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sonoma Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sonoma-valley-unified-school-district/sonoma-charter-school/5215"}
