Young children learn best when they can see, touch, move, and talk about what they are learning, and these materials have allowed us to do exactly that. Students use the grooved alphabet boards, play dough, letter stamps, and whiteboards to practice letters, sounds, and early writing skills through multiple learning modalities. Rather than simply memorizing information, they are actively building understanding through exploration and play.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been the opportunity to learn through movement and hands-on experiences. The alphabet bean bags quickly became a class favorite, allowing students to practice letter recognition and sounds while playing games and working with classmates. The whiteboards have also been a huge success because students can take risks, make mistakes, erase, and try again without fear. These tools have increased engagement and confidence, especially among students who are hesitant to participate in traditional pencil-and-paper activities.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from these materials. Our English learners have been able to connect language with visuals and hands-on experiences, helping them build vocabulary and confidence when speaking in class. Students with special learning needs have also thrived because the materials provide multiple ways to access the curriculum. It has been wonderful to watch students who once needed significant support become more independent, willing to participate, and excited about learning. Your generosity has helped create a classroom where every child can experience success and joy in learning.","fullyFundedDate":1769539846537,"projectUrl":"project/seal-in-action-hands-on-language-learni/10040827/","projectTitle":"SEAL in Action: Hands-On Language Learning for Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cookman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10224315"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5213","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":260,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.3,"schoolId":5213,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Prestwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Prestwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sonoma-valley-unified-school-district/prestwood-elementary-school/5213"}
