We've been using them for multiple writing sessions.\r\n\r\nThe students have been reviewing their Penmanship--how to write their letters correctly. With fixing these simple errors, the students are able to write faster and get their thoughts down quicker on paper. I have been working with them in small groups every week on their Penmanship, and a lot of them have already received some of the prizes that you donated!\r\n\r\nAnother thing we are working on in class are Friendly Letters. Their eyes lit up as the packages were opened, revealing colorful bristle blocks, building sets, and other creative construction toys. The energy in the room was contagious as they eagerly inspected the contents, imagining all the amazing things they could create. These toys quickly became a prized incentive for completed work, encouraging students to stay focused and productive. They also play a central role during social centers, fostering collaboration and teamwork. Knowing they'll have a chance to explore these toys motivates students to give their best effort throughout the day.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the toys, the classroom has been buzzing with creativity and innovation. The students take great pride in designing cars, boats, and other imaginative vehicles, often challenging themselves to build structures as tall and sturdy as possible without them falling. The variety of engineering toys allows them to experiment with different materials and consider how each contributes to the overall design. The bristle blocks, in particular, have become a classroom favorite, sparking incredible creativity. I'm constantly amazed by the inventive ways the students use them, whether they're crafting intricate designs or developing new ways to solve building challenges. These toys not only inspire their imaginations but also teach valuable lessons about structure, problem-solving, and perseverance.","fullyFundedDate":1732170045867,"projectUrl":"project/little-builders-big-dreams-crafting-t/8943254/","projectTitle":"\"Little Builders, Big Dreams: Crafting Tomorrow’s Innovators\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brinkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5845032_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1569461947176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5845032"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40921","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":219,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.6,"schoolId":40921,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Somis Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Somis Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/somis-union-elementary-school-district/somis-elementary-school/40921"}
