While it may seem like a simple piece of technology, for our students, it has become a vital bridge to communication, connection, and cognitive growth. The transformation in our daily environment is nothing short of remarkable, as this tool has turned what used to be passive observation into active, joyful participation. \r\n\r\nIn an ESN setting, social-emotional skills are often the most challenging to cultivate, yet the Smart Board has turned abstract concepts into concrete, shared experiences. We have seen a significant shift in turn-taking and patience; students who previously struggled to wait now stand in line with visible anticipation, watching their peers interact with the screen. This has naturally fostered a sense of joint attention—a massive milestone for our learners—as the entire class now locks eyes on the same focal point to solve puzzles or track movements together. This shared focus has effectively shifted the energy of our classroom from individual silos to a collaborative learning hub where students are truly aware of one another.\r\n\r\nOn the academic front, the interactive nature of the board has led to a direct and measurable improvement in meeting Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. For students with sensory or fine motor challenges, traditional paper-and-pencil tasks can be a source of deep frustration. The Smart Board's large-scale touch interface removes these barriers, allowing students to drag and drop items for mathematics or identify sight words with a physical confidence we haven't seen before. This heightened engagement has accelerated progress in functional literacy and cause-and-effect reasoning. By providing a dignified, modern way to access the curriculum, you have given our students a powerful new way to demonstrate their competence and say to the world, \"I can do this.\" We are incredibly grateful for this investment in their potential.","fullyFundedDate":1768589163159,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-every-voice-inclusive-learni/9956047/","projectTitle":"Empowering Every Voice: Inclusive Learning Through Smart Board Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jordyn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10382471_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y306&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765552815397","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10382471"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61323","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":324,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":13,"percentAsian":41,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"19.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":61323,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carmel Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carmel Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/solana-beach-school-district/carmel-creek-elementary-school/61323"}
