Letting them choose their own dry erase marker color for their whiteboards was a small thing that made a big impression — suddenly the whiteboard felt like theirs. The digraph magnets sparked even more excitement, and they quickly became one of our most powerful tools.\r\n\r\nOne moment stands out. A student who had been struggling to write his digraphs in the correct order used the magnets during word work and immediately began spelling with the same accuracy as his peers. Something that had felt frustrating in writing became suddenly accessible. Beyond the confidence boost in that moment, the repeated hands-on practice with the magnets began to carry over into his writing — the correct letter order was becoming automatic. That is exactly the kind of transfer I was hoping these materials would support.\r\n\r\nThis group is now ready to take their next big step: learning simple suffixes like -ed, -ing, and -es — patterns that add a syllable and shift the meaning of a word. The whiteboards, magnetic letters, and easel pad will all play a role as we build and manipulate words together. Your generosity didn't just supply materials; it helped create a classroom where kids can see themselves as readers and spellers. Thank you for believing in these students.","fullyFundedDate":1769711449862,"projectUrl":"project/all-senses-on-deck-transforming-reading/9997804/","projectTitle":"All Senses on Deck: Transforming Reading for Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9374289_orig.jpg?crop=442,442,x0,y44&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726419853647","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/joyhlynky"},{"teacherId":9374289,"projectId":9427607,"letterContent":"My students loved being a part of unpacking and setting up the new materials. We are using items like the dry erase markers and big Post It presentation paper all day long. Other items are more task specific. Right now we are working through math units on money and decimals concurrently. This is a great opportunity to use our decimal and fraction tiles to help make more connections between the value of money and the symbolic representation of decmials to the 1/100ths. I also have students working on borrowing and carrying which have made good use of the base ten blocks and the place value discs. \r\n\r\nStudents are making great progress having intervention materials that are specific to their needs and standards they are learning. TPT provided excellent anchor charts for math vocabulary and steps, and also printable dot cards for improving number sense. Parents are equally excited about the richness of support their students have now and will sometimes reach out looking for a way to support more understanding at home.","fullyFundedDate":1754579235017,"projectUrl":"project/manipulatives-bring-math-to-life-for-stu/9427607/","projectTitle":"Manipulatives Bring Math to Life for Students with Learning Disabilities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9374289_orig.jpg?crop=442,442,x0,y44&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726419853647","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/joyhlynky"},{"teacherId":10106924,"projectId":9525541,"letterContent":"Receiving these generous donations has made a remarkable impact on our middle school classroom. When the boxes first arrived, the students' excitement filled the room—they couldn't wait to see what was inside. Their faces lit up as we unpacked each item, from the soft fluorescent light covers to the calming waterfall and the cozy new lamps. It was a moment of shared joy and appreciation, and it immediately sparked conversations about how these items would help make our learning space feel more peaceful and inviting.\r\n\r\n Now, with the gentle sounds of the waterfall and the warm glow from the new lights, our classroom has been transformed into a calm retreat where students can focus and feel comfortable. The tea adds a special touch, encouraging mindfulness and connection during our quiet moments together.
