We started the school year August 11th and have worked hard on our classroom procedures and using our classroom tools appropriately for the last 6 weeks. These new math manipulative have come in useful for math instruction and in our first few weeks of learning about multiplication! Skip counting on our number line whiteboards was one of the first activities I was able to effectively teach this year, and students took to it quickly! They have worked on drawing their own number lines and taking a multiplication problem (like 6x3) and using a number line to complete three jumps of 6. It is a hallmark of common core curriculum to be able to visualize our math problems and to understand multiplication visually will benefit my students as the learn more complex ideas in the years to come. \r\n\r\nAnother visual we have taught is the use of arrays! Although I started with counters at their seats, the use of our magnetic array on my big whiteboard at the front of the class has helped students engage with understanding multiplication visually. Our magnetic tiles will line up with out geometry curriculum by the end of the year and are so much fun to work with!","fullyFundedDate":1747873546017,"projectUrl":"project/math-manipulatives/9264121/","projectTitle":"Math Manipulatives","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haub","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2624214_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533670274286","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2624214"},{"teacherId":2624214,"projectId":8806340,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your contribution to my third grade classroom. There are a number of ways my students are using our new headphones and mice daily. \r\n Lexia is one of the leading learning programs that directly teaches phonics, spelling and reading strategies for students K-5. My students strive to meet their weekly goal of about 60 minutes total to drive home the concepts that they are mastering at their individual levels. In my classroom, some students are on level 8 (1st grade level) and some have already mastered up to level 14. They need headphones to work on their individual levels, and to listen for the directions given. \r\n We also use the Envision math program at Kid Street. This program is common core based math that emphasizes digital learning strategies. At the end of a lesson, I will frequently assign my students a digital math test, 5-10 in depth questions, that simulates the types of questions my students will see on the CAASPP assessment from third grade on. I believe the practice they will receive this year will help them feel ready and confident to face the challenges they will surly encounter in the years ahead.","fullyFundedDate":1736491624627,"projectUrl":"project/digital-learning-and-testing-supplies/8806340/","projectTitle":"Digital Learning and Testing Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haub","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2624214_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533670274286","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2624214"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5187","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":116,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":5187,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kid Street Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kid Street Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-rosa-city-school-district/kid-street-charter-school/5187"}
