Also, students no longer have to share thermometers or wonder if their thermometer is giving them the correct reading. They can focus on the science, making predictions, collecting data, and figuring out why their results turned out the way they did. For example, during a creek bioassessment, students used the measuring tapes and stopwatches to collect data on water quality and habitat population. Being able to measure and time their experiments allowed them to think like real scientists—recording observations, comparing results, and discussing their findings with their classmates.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited. Many of them immediately began asking what experiments we would be doing and how the equipment worked. Having real scientific tools in the classroom made them feel like they were working in an authentic lab environment.\r\n\r\nThe refrigerator is helping us safely store specimens and materials for upcoming biology investigations, allowing students to observe samples over multiple days and conduct more detailed studies. The microwave has also become an important part of our labs, helping us safely prepare materials and demonstrate changes in matter during experiments.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be using these resources in a series of inquiry-based labs where they design their own experiments.
