Being able to have crafts in the library enables more students to enjoy the library. \r\n\r\nOur special day class students especially enjoy the crafts and puzzles that the makerspace allows. It is very important to our school that our SDC students feel included on campus. The library is an extension of that. \r\n\r\nWe aim to make our library the center of school--readers or no. Students come for the crafts and we get to hope, through osmosis, they get inspired to read.","fullyFundedDate":1723597838104,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-makerspace-in-our-library/8649611/","projectTitle":"Creating a Makerspace in Our Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hanna Love","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6042235_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709677589527","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/srvhslib"},{"teacherId":224472,"projectId":9543442,"letterContent":"We are thrilled to share the immediate and significant impact of your generous donation, which funded our set of digital balances. These tools have already become indispensable across our science curriculum, making abstract concepts tangible and boosting the rigor of our lab activities.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the balances, our students have used them for lab activities 85 times across multiple classes!\r\n\r\nKey Activities & Learning:\r\n\r\nChemistry students immediately put the balances to work, accurately measuring the mass of different substances to create complex density columns. This hands-on experience has been crucial for developing a practical understanding of mass, volume, and density relationships.\r\n\r\nAP Environmental Science (APES) students utilized the precision of the balances to conduct a critical environmental experiment: accurately weighing soil samples both before and after saturating to calculate water holding capacity. This lab gave them quantitative, real-world data on soil health and resource management.\r\n\r\nThese digital balances are not just pieces of equipment; they are essential tools that transform our classroom into a true laboratory. The precision they offer allows our students to collect reliable data, empowering them to think and analyze like real scientists.\r\n\r\nWe are excited for the continued use of these balances in every future lab, ensuring all our students can deepen their understanding of the world around them through accurate, engaging experimentation.\r\n\r\nThank you again for empowering our students to pursue deeper scientific inquiry!","fullyFundedDate":1755368692222,"projectUrl":"project/digital-balances-for-hands-on-chemistry/9543442/","projectTitle":"Digital Balances for Hands-On Chemistry","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/224472"},{"teacherId":9704721,"projectId":8699346,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for allowing us to bring materials and supplies that support our computer science students and unplugged activities that reach back to our big ideas of computer science.\r\n\r\nSome of the materials allowed students to build if-else if - else types statements of various types and plot out the path. Even highlighter pens help distinguish parts of code on paper from one another such as variables, methods and constructors in addition to lists and loops and functions. \r\n\r\nThe teacher was able to build more relationships with students by walking out paths and got to see students interact, have fun, and get out of their desks. \r\n\r\nWithout your support we have very little materials; everything is grant-based or donated, otherwise it comes from the teacher. Something I really appreciate about being in the SRVUSD school district is that the parents are so very supportive. Your generosity is certainly recognized and appreciated. \r\nToday, my students completed their lobbying project and voted for who they thought was the best lobbyist in the class. The \"I Voted\" stickers were a fun addition to the project and mirrored the type of civic engagement I hope students will be a part of in the future. \r\nThe grading pens, dry erase markers, and erasers have also been especially helpful. I love being able to use a variety of colors to grade (particularly the ability to avoid red since it can make students feel a bit upset when they receive feedback). \r\nI've also so appreciated the clipboards for students when they are working in a chair or working in the hallway.
