Many students cannot effectively hold cards but being able to participate in a motivating game utilizing their social skills, attention, turn taking, listening comprehension and oral speaking skills using the card holders has been very rewarding and encouraging in participation of the therapist led activity. Students love learning when they don't always even realize they are working on so many social communicative skills! \r\n\r\n In addition, we have greatly appreciated the use of classroom incentives for good behavior, newly learned target skills, and for reinforcement of target behaviors such as focus and participation. The incentive items received are used regularly for rewards with my students and I see their effectiveness in improving student motivation. I also have used the \"fidget toys\" not only with students on the Autism spectrum but others as it does help them stay focused in our therapy sessions therefore maximizing \r\n their learning outcomes and targeted areas of need.","fullyFundedDate":1725988231527,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-talking/8743065/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Talking!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Franco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9732329_orig.jpg?crop=659,659,x0,y153&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725575382929","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9732329"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4018","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":361,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":28,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.2,"schoolId":4018,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Corvallis Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Corvallis Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-lorenzo-unified-school-district/corvallis-elementary-school/4018"}
