The students love the Lego wall, and are growing their social, emotional, and artistic skills by using it.\r\n\r\nWhen I put up the Lego wall and opened the Lego bricks station, the students cheered! Some other art stations are less used once the novelty wears off, but the Legos get used by every class, all day long, all week. Many students enjoy working together to build cities, vehicles, houses and creative inventions. They are building their social and emotional skills when they share, take turns, listen and consider the ideas of their peers. It is true organic collaboration in action.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts about the Legos is that students who are English learners, shy, or autistic come up to me, bursting with the need to tell me about their Lego designs, and what all the little parts do. It's a great bridge that gives them the drive to build up their communication skills, and has empowered me to forge trusting relationships with some of my harder to reach students.","fullyFundedDate":1760764953720,"projectUrl":"project/legos-will-improve-social-and-emotional/9607863/","projectTitle":"LEGOs Will Improve Social and Emotional Skills, Brick by Brick!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Munger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9026751_orig.jpg?crop=291,291,x0,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683690210645","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9026751"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53198","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":247,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.9,"schoolId":53198,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ottomon Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ottomon Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-juan-unified-school-district/ottomon-elementary-school/53198"}
