And I am glad that I did. Now I can say with confidence how wonderful it is to have the resources we need to explore (and make a mess) in our art class. \r\nWe have all gotten our hands on paint now, thanks to your donations. I was able to do a tree painting project with nearly every student in my school. They were so excited! I gave them a small tray with primary colors on it (as well as black and white for my older students to have the added option of using blending skills). We talked about colors and they all got to explore how to mix the colors they wanted. It was so much fun to hear them from all over the room \"Look at this orange I made!\" \"I figured out how to make pink!\" \"I only needed a tiny bit of red!\" Every color they mixed felt like magic. And how those painting are lining the walls of our art classroom. \r\nSo thank you again. Thank you for helping us have fun and for giving me the supplies I need to get started with this new position. So much of getting kids into reading is simply about connecting them to books that they're interested in. Your generous donations have enabled me to do just that. There are some books that your donations brought in like The Poet X, Mexikid, and Dragon Ball Z that haven't spent any time on my shelves yet because they're so frequently checked out.\r\n\r\nI work in a community that historically has very low scores in English, where reading and writing instruction is a heavy lift. It's in this context that I've had over 40% of my students read 10 or more books halfway through the school year. If we can inspire our students to fall in love with reading, it opens the doors to a whole world of education and that is what your donation has helped do.
