By allowing students an opportunity to use these graphing calculators, they are able to make connections with equations and data that they weren't able to previously. Used in conjunction with motion sensors, they are now able to create their own data for analyzing. Through some of the lessons where these calculators were utilized, I saw classes with 100% participation. Students were excited to share with me what they had discovered and were taking on more challenges.\r\nLinear equations and proportional functions are a huge part of 8th grade math. These topics tie together many of the other standards that we see over the course of this year. By giving students the power in their hands to create and visualize these graphs, as we regularly come back to graphing in other topics, students will have access to this tool so they may concentrate on learning the newer elements.","fullyFundedDate":1763612503343,"projectUrl":"project/graphing-calculators/9813440/","projectTitle":"Graphing Calculators","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. T","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9024028"},{"teacherId":9998166,"projectId":9557336,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! The supplies you provided—markers, a large whiteboard, candy incentives, and bright cardstock—are already making a big difference in our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe new whiteboard and colorful markers allow me to present lessons more clearly and visually, helping students follow along and stay engaged. The bright cardstock is perfect for creating anchor charts, vocabulary cards, and interactive activities that bring our 7th grade English Language Arts standards to life. Even something as simple as colorful materials makes our classroom feel more welcoming and organized, which helps students focus.\r\n\r\nThe candy rewards have been a fun and effective way to motivate students to participate, share their ideas, and challenge themselves academically. It's amazing how candy can encourage even my shyest learners to join discussions! My students are already so excited to dive into this novel, and I know it will become a favorite.\r\n\r\nThis book aligns beautifully with our 7th grade English Language Arts standards, particularly in reading literature (RL.7.1–7.6) where students analyze characters, themes, and central ideas, as well as writing standards (W.7.1–7.9) that ask them to make text-based connections and support their thinking with evidence. Ghost tackles themes of perseverance, friendship, belonging, and resilience, all of which resonate deeply with middle schoolers. The main character's struggles with controlling his behavior and finding a positive path forward mirror challenges that many of my students face. Seeing themselves reflected in Ghost's journey gives them a chance to talk about identity, choices, and growth in ways that are both authentic and empowering.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided my students with more than just a novel—they now have access to a story that validates their experiences, sparks critical thinking, and builds a stronger classroom community.
