One of the biggest struggles my middle schoolers were having, was intonation. We would tune at the beginning of the class period, but as the instruments warmed up, the tuning would change and it would greatly affect our overall sound. Also, with many of our older instruments, we would find that some notes would be in tune and others would be sharp or flat. It was becoming very frustrating to students.\r\n\r\nNow that more students have tuners that can stay on their instruments throughout the rehearsal, students are able to make adjustments and learn to strengthen their ear. This ear training is leading them toward making changes to their embouchure and leading to an overall better sound.
