I am thankful for the workbooks for my current class. My new class has access to a Math workbooks thanks to the families and donors of last year.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the year in the Spring, my class received the books that we did receive. Some students got booth phonic workbooks. The younger students got one workbook on beginning sounds.\r\n\r\nMy pictures show we have enough workbooks for all students in the TK class to have and work from-thanks! We celebrated AAPI in TK with your new and interesting books! It was rough to celebrate one more thing in May among preparation for TK promotion and end-of-year report cards. The fact is the thematic books for my read alouds was exactly what I needed to expose my TK little minds to different Asian cultures and topics. \r\nI want to share two books that my students and I enjoyed the most. The first one was Where's Halmoni? by Julie Kim Read. I fell into an imaginary world that the book takes up through through different chapters that include a portal to an imaginary world. The students and I wanted the book to continue and not end. That was the tell tale sign that we loved this unique book with a portal to an imaginary setting and time frame. It was a unique story that captured and activated our imaginations.\r\nThe second book was Fish for Jimmy.\r\nBasically, it shows how \"two boys in a Japanese-American family, everything changed when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and the United States went to war. With the family forced to leave their home and go to an internment camp, Jimmy loses his appetite. Older brother Taro takes matters into his own hands and, night after night, sneaks out of the camp, and catches fresh fish for Jimmy to help make him strong again.\" Google summary.\r\nMy children were in awe that this brother in the story was a hero for his family. My regular parent volunteer on Wednesdays helped my students to carry out all the steps necessary to have the mold dry and firm up, so that they could paint them.
