The calculators you funded have already made a meaningful difference for my students. When they walked into the classroom and saw a new scientific calculator on every desk, they were genuinely excited. Many students immediately picked them up, tested the buttons, and asked if they could start using them right away. It created a very positive energy in the room and set the tone for the day.\r\n\r\nTechnology is part of everyday life, and in the classroom it directly supports how students understand new ideas. In chemistry, students regularly work with scientific notation, exponents, and multi step problem solving. Before this project, we often had to share calculators, which made lessons slower and more stressful for students. Now that each student has access to their own reliable calculator, they can focus on understanding the concepts rather than worrying about completing the math.\r\n\r\nThe biggest change has been their confidence. Students participate more readily and they check their work with greater accuracy. The calculators have helped create a more supportive and equitable learning environment where everyone has what they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1759512253084,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-needed/9689348/","projectTitle":"Calculators Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jackie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10244305"},{"teacherId":6696850,"projectId":8766966,"letterContent":"This has made such an impact on my students. Students are thirsty all day long and when the fountains are not working or they don't want to take time to stand in line during class to fill their water bottles I have them taken care of. I actually get students that come in at lunch and say hi more often. The only thing I didn't think of is the cone shaped cup dispensers because not everyone caries a water bottle. I'm a science teacher and though I have a sink students are wary of using it as drinking water. This new fountain is greatly appreciated by my students and me.","fullyFundedDate":1727727940855,"projectUrl":"project/quality-water-always-near/8766966/","projectTitle":"Quality Water Always Near","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lovett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6696850"},{"teacherId":6696850,"projectId":8657104,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the materials. My Physiology class has done three dissections this fall and they are having a great time with them. I expect to do another 3 this spring and I own a large amount of the success to having the proper number of materials so that the whole class can take a part in the labs. Before I had to have the students pick one person to do the labs and now everyone has the opportunity to get their hands dirty. The last dissection was of a chicken wing and I think there is much more learning going on when everyone has equipment to do the labs.","fullyFundedDate":1723826916725,"projectUrl":"project/physiology-protocols-and-lab-writeups-fo/8657104/","projectTitle":"Physiology Protocols and Lab Writeups for Numerous Dissection's","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lovett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6696850"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4390","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1031,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":41,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.8,"schoolId":4390,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Phillip & Sala Burton High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Phillip & Sala Burton High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/philip-sala-burton-high-school/4390"}
